Sometimes I will take a step out of my personal comfort zone and see what happens. I know that there are some areas of my life that need some changes. My weight, my health, my mental and emotional well-being, to name a few things. LOL
So I went over to Associated Content. If you haven't heard of it, it's a site where you write articles and you can either submit what you've written for upfront payment IF AC accepts it or you do as I have done and just submit your work for nothing but then you get payment for page views to your stuff. So far, in one and a half years, I have made one dollar and fifty cents for page views. Not much I know but I've been far to chicken to submit articles for upfront payment because the few times that I tried that, AC refused them.
I saw that AC had some calls for content and I decided to claim one. It's for RV Camping in Upstate New York. I know a lot about RV camping though I know nothing of Upstate New York but I thought that I could find RV campgrounds on the internet. So I did it. I almost didn't. I came very close to just collapsing in fear and quitting before I started but I didn't. I wrote the article and submitted it to AC within the required time.Â
So today I get the message from AC that my article has been published! I'm so excited because I feel like maybe I really CAN do this! Plus it means I get a whole $4.50! LOL I know it's not much but it's a beginning, right? :-) AC also pays for page views to your published articles, it's $1.50 for each 1,000 page views.
If you get a chance, check out my article on AC:

I'm hoping this is the beginning for me though I have to tell you, I am not quite ready to claim another call for content from AC right now!Â

Teresa, do you promote your articles on sites like Digg, Stumble upon etc? I spent hours doing that and without logging into AC since I vowed I was done with them I've managed to make $8-$10 a month in page views every month.
Maybe it'll help you out too?
Did you know Stephen King was rejected by dozens upn dozens publishers and was going to quit writing? His wife fished his manuscript for "Carrie" out of the trash and made him finish it...the rest is history.

Go for it, write some more, if they don't want to pay for it, just submit it for page views only. I think the key is sticking with it, don't be discouraged, just keep writing - no matter what.
Connecting with other AC writers for support is great too. Just keep writing, that is what a writer does.
I've written a few articles on AC before I found gather, I just enjoy gather more. There's really no comparing these two sites, since they operate quite differently. AC can be great too, but gather is simply more fun.
Anyway good luck!
