As a kid my Aunt had a coffee shop at the corner of Main St. and Ocean in Daytona beach.
After school I'd get shuttled up there sometimes, and since she was never as woman to waste a resource, (long story there!), I'd get stuck out back putting pats of REAL butter onto paper holders off a five pound pre cut stick.
Across the street was the backside of the OCEAN PIER nightclub and they had great acts..
One of which was the DRIFTERS.
I heard this and other wonderful songs being practiced many an afternoon..
Imagine the bass voices echoing up thru the club in the open air of the Atlantic.

Oh, the sun beats down and melts the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot you wish your tired feet were fire-proof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be
Under the boardwalk, out of the sun
Under the boardwalk, well be having some fun
Under the boardwalk, people walking above
Under the boardwalk, well be falling in love
Under the board-walk, board-walk
From a park you hear the happy sounds from a carousel You can almost taste the hotdogs and french fries they sell
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be
Under the boardwalk, out of the sun
Under the boardwalk, well be having some fun
Under the boardwalk, people walking above
Under the boardwalk, well be falling in love
Under the board-walk, board-walk
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be
