My content on Gather, for the most part falls into one of the following categories:
- Poetry
- Short Stories
- Novel Excerpts
- Reviews
- Bloggy/Op-ed Stuff
- Questions I really want answers to
Later today I plan to start a group called "Higher Aspirations." I intend for it to be a literary group. A private group for serious workshopping, because the intent of the work posted there is to submit it for publication. My goal is to keep pieces under 1000 words. My pieces will probably be mostly flash fiction and perhaps a little poetry. Anything that is seeking more traditional, or is being prepared for self publication is eligible - art, music, etc..... I'll probably disable the rating system on my own work, since written comments carry the real weight anyway. I have a relatively thick skin when it comes to criticism, as long as there's details and reasons. "This story sucks" will bug me. "This story was contrived because Bobby was a brat and didn't deserve that car." will not. Of course if you want to tell me I'm awesome, I'll have no objections. I'll also be sure to reciprocate any serious critiques with one of my own.
I will keep the group as "invitation only" and will probably email members when I post something new just because with the volume of work going through Gather it's easy for the things people really put a lot of time and effort into to get buried before they are even seen. Another words. This is a fluff free zone. Other members will be encouraged to invite anyone they feel would contribute.
Let me know in the comments if you want an invite.

This is good. Much success to you.
I love an invite to your group. I'm published, but I'm about to start serious work on some fiction and I could really use a "workshop" type group.
I have one question.
What if your work is just over a thousand words? Is it still eligible?
Just wondering.
I have many stories I need critique on and mostly all I get is,
"Interesting work", Or something inane like that.
Thanks in advance.
