Question for long time Gather-ers...

Do you ever go through and delete connections? I just realized I have over 500 connections, which may not be that many to some, but I have a feeling there are plenty on there I do not see showing up on my feed and what not, and others who never comment on my things. So, maybe to make room for others I should just delete some...?

I rarely do it, but once I went back and removed a few that hadn't be on Gather in over a year.

I don't delete any either. I just try to get to as many people as I can on a daily basis and try to comment on those who comment on my work. I like to say that one day when I write something amazing I can always bank on a percentage of my hundreds of connections to drop by and read whatever.

In the long run, having more connections is a benefit and a blessing; at least to me it is! ;)

I rarely delete. The few times that I've deleted have been because they left the site or I was no longer interested in the quality of their content.

I've never deleted any. I really don't understand the new upgrade but it looks like I won't be able to very easily see the content of anyone who is not connected to me. So anyone who'd like me to see your stuff, if you aren't connected to me better connect to me now.

I've deleted a few, because they flooded my inbox with requests to check out every single one of their articles and/or pictures. Another guy that I've deleted because I think he's a know it all, keeps popping back up in my friend feed like a bad penny!

I don't delete...some come, come go...some come and go...and then come back again. I know everyone has a life outside of Gather, so I just see them when I see them....but everyone does it differently...

I haven't deleted any of mine... I'm not sure how many I have (maybe 400 or so?). I can kind of see the reason why someone might want to do that, though, since one's "My Gather" page gets filled up with a lot of comments, etc. possibly from contacts that they don't have that much interaction with anymore... My solution to this is that I have put the people whose content I want to try to avoid missing in another "group" so that all I have to do is sort out the list that way and look at content that's just FROM them...

Hi Chelsea. I've only been here for almost 7 months, and I already have over 100. its getting to the point of where its starting to be too much. And your right, some of them I haven't seen anything posted for quite sometime

i've removed myself from groups that promote article hounding b/c my inbox overflows! i don't wanna waste my time reading articles of topics that don't interest me!

as far as friends go, nope . . . i keep 'em cause it makes me feel popular!

I don't delet any of mine, cause I know they're times I will go through them and just comment through some of there stuff.
I do once in awhile. I also remove my self from groups that I never publish to, it make publishing to groups go a little faster when there are less of them there.

I have. When these feeds started I wasn't getting much content and Gather told me it was because I had "too many friends" (I only had about 200 at the time). So, I weeded out people who hadn't signed in for several months. That didn't help my problem though. I thought it was funny that Gather, a "social" site, told me I had too many friends. And I know a lot of you have way more than 200 friends!

I never delete anyone, but I've been deleted by around 100 since I've joined. Right now, I'm at 1,145 people in my network. You never know when they might come in handy. Some don't post or even comment but come by and read. Any page view counts toward increasing the cash I make. Others who haven't been on in awhile may come back and help me earn even more. It doesn't hurt anything by leaving connections in place who are already there. There's always room for more.

I don't usually delete Gather friends.
I mean maybe on a rare occasion. But, not normally.
What kind of bothers me is that I don't get to comment on all of my connection's articles or photos.
I feel like I kind of neglect some. So, I spend time and go back to articles and photos to comment on them, usually a couple of weeks after they were posted.
I know I miss a few though.

I don't really end up deleting gather friends unless I don't like their content to the point of me getting really aggravated about it, or if they say something offensive to me.

I just delete groups quite frequently, especially when I find I don't post to them anymore.

I have deleted people that are on my friends. Sorry but there are a few people I don't care to assocaite with at all. I don't want to see their content or even give them a page view.

Most of my connections come from other members requesting a connection with me. Typically because I helped them in some way. Therefore, I never delete a connection in case they continue to keep up on my content, comments, etc.

I have only intentionally removed a small number of connections in the time I have been here (less than 5).

500...how do you keep up with them? My connections are only people that I think have the same interests as me. I just don't connect to everyone. That way I can see there articles and images that I like. I don't connect just for the sake of connecting.

I have done it. There is one person who I'd deleted a couple weeks ago because they hadn't commented on any of my work for months even though i commented on theirs quite frequently. I got tired of no reciprocation and also the fact that during triple points week they started just cut and pasting their old articles without saying this is a repost. That was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Not even a week after I delete the person they actually comment on some of my content and send me a friend request. I just wanted to say "Helllloooooo, where have you been for the past 6 months?!?!"

Looks like you got plenty of advice, my answer is yes. I keep mine around 350...and if it goes over, I delete the people that aren't around or that I don't feel as if I "know" after a while. I don't like having too many connections.

I do it all the time, when people fade away i delete them, if i notice that they start going off the deep end i delete them. when i feel we no longer have things in common I delete them. I do this so that i can pay attention to those who I really need to be giving my attention to.

I haven't removed any friends, but have deleted groups in which I never had anything to publish to. However, then I have different sets of folders for different things. I connect to those that have joined my group. Others whom I visit every day in another set. If I belong to peoples groups, and they don't have me as a connection, I will remove their group. If I am good enough to post to your group, then I better be good enough to be one of your connections. Just how I see it.

I do. I haven't since around the first of the year. However, I usually go through every four to six months and disconnect from people who didn't turn out to have similar interests or who never comment on my stuff even though I always comment on theirs. So yeah, I like to keep my connections down to under 150 because any more than that and I have to spend too much time commenting. Once it becomes a chore instead of something enjoyable, I put an end to it.

I have only been a member for about 2 weeks. I've already deleted some. I was thinking I should only have connections that I will really comment to. Thinking back, I think I'll not do that again. I think I'll accept all and keep all.

I only delete connections when they get really, really out of hand -- so almost never.

the only reason I would delete some is if I got notice that they are no longer members or they have been really weird or mean to me - I mean, why bother trying to have a friendship with someone like that?
