Dear God,
If only for today keep me safe
If only for today I will have something to eat
If only for today I will not be lonely
If only for today I will be alright

If only for tonight I will have a place
If only for tonight I will have something to eat
If only for tonight I will not be lonely
If only for tonight you will not turn out the light

If only for today
If only for tonight
You give me a place to lay
and a place to be safe and play

Thank Dear God for all that you have done for me.
Please never ever leave
my sight unless you take me with you
or else I will certainly turn ice cold blue.

Thanks for all you have done for me
Thanks from the bottom of my heart
You are on great God with a mighty heart
For you took in my wretched soul
and turned into fine coal.
Thanks once again for keeping me alive
Thanks for ledding to brighter pastures
Thanks for keeping me alive

In your precious name I pray
Amen

I was homeless twice and both times landed in okay shelters. That was back in 2005. Since than God has been with me and he cared for me and brought me through the tough times and finally I landed in an apartment with section 8 and SSDI

Sadly, it looks like the homeless population keeps rising. In Rhode Island, many homeless actually have jobs. They are just low paying ones & the cost of living is high here.

Beautiful. The homeless are the invisible people living with us, among us, and yet, unseen by many of us. Misjudged, prejudiced into one gorup.....The list is endless.

Amy ... I have a heart for the homeless also. that is a wonderful poem ... we learned in real life that their are homeless out there that love the Lord and witness to other homeless.

it may or may not be their faults. There are ways out of the shelter and into places to live you just need to want to do that.

There are a lot of people who just sort of fall through the cracks. Too much education and income for assistance, but not enough for a good job. I like your poem.
