the sadness within

Some people look and some people see

thinking there is joy inside of me

and yet my heart wanders alone

cursed to never find its true home

To the world around me, I may seem

full of joy, and happiness, totally a beam

but deep inside, my heart is undone

and can no longer face the morning sun.

Light and life seem too far away

on all of these dark and dreary days

my life will never more be the same

since he was the one just playing a game

I have been told I am sweet and nice

I have been willing to love at no price

only to find that nice was a line and thats all

and my heart, the only one to fall.

So if you see me smile and call your name

know I wasn't just playing a game

but I have a darkness deep inside

from which I can never truly hide.

I try to go on, thinking there must be more

but fate keeps true love beyond my door

and I cannot accept that to I am to be

living lost in darkness, I must fight my way free.

You must fight your way free
from the pain and sorrow's touch.
Then and only then can you be
one who gives and loves so much.

Please do not give strength
to those who've hurt you a lot.
Toss out the grief and anger within
only after can you love with all you've got.

As you can see this was inspirational to me.
Good stuff.

Sue*, thank you for stopping and reading my work. The odd thing is that I don't think it was truly his intention to hurt me. He has gone so far to help me, but he can't love me. He wasn't the only one, just the one that hurt the worst.

I think everybody reaches this point at times, but it is the ones that don't express it, or don't have somebody to turn to that are the most vulnerable to making the big mistake.

The pain of lost love is very strong in this. I would have to work my way through this, because it is too much pain. I wish I could say something truly insightful here, but matters of the heart are really sensitive, and I am at a loss.

Lisa, what a wonderful poem expressing the feeling of lost love. I know the pain first hand of betrayal and trust me, you will regain the strength you need to love again. The day I really believed that it was not my fault, I was a good person and worthy of love, my life did change. May you find the right one that deserves the lovely lady that you are!

Bonnie thank you so much for your kind words. I haven't figured out how to stop loving, I wish I could, but it is not part of who I am. Apparently, I am just not somebody who can be loved in return, "that way" I believe were his words. Well, he said he couldn't and didn't love me "that way". That is all I have ever heard. I almost wish I could stop loving, maybe then it wouldn't hurt so much feeling a part of me missing.

Aww my sisters, thank you for being here, I can always count on you both. (especially since Missy just got out of the hospital, that is saying something) Missy you have almost literally known me since birth, and yet here you are, defending me again. Unlike Mike, he knows what he doesn't feel Sharon, He is sure of that. I dont think he is coming around now or ever.

Lisa - Love will find a way into your heart. You must be receptive to it and with open heart accept it when it does come your way.

Always remember though that love will not come knocking on your door to find you. You must show your face to the world and get out there with that smile on your face although you express it as a facade. People are attracted to happy people and you too shall find what you so seek.

Esther- I do feel happiness much of the time, but with things right now between my "dear friend"and I, my daughter deciding I am the cause of all her ills, and my son suddenly expecting he "has to take care of me" no matter what (I know he means well) it has just started pushing me back to the edge. My dear friends from Gather have been a great help to me .

Good Morning Lisa, that was a wonderful , but heart wrenching poem.
No doubt it was a factual thought , but dear you have many friends.
Lovers and sweethearts come and go but friends are forever.
If someone doesnt want what you have to offer, God has a better thing in mind for you.

Deb- Thank you. I never wanted to be the cause of somebody else being sad, and I enjoy seeing somebody smile. Yes there are many people who do not wear their emotion publicly, some much more than I.

Deb- Actually, let me make a correction. I wear my heart on my sleeve for the most part, but I have times, when I actually get very down, that I don't show it at all, and that is not a good thing. I do know many people who confide in me their problems that show a laid back friendly face to the public at large.
