Im here to squash the Gather Rumor!!!!

I earlier had seen a possible rumor people were asking about if the points and rewards in the near future would be taken from us gather community here is the response from Maryann Flynn herself a gather member support team


Hi AngelEyez,
Thanks for stopping by with your question. The answer is NO. Gather is not doing away with points and rewards. We think they are a fun bonus to being active on Gather and we have no plans to do away with them. You can officially shut the rumor down!


so I hope with this said you can all rest a little easier and keep coming by and not fretting the rumor you may be hearing!!

Like others above, I hadn't heard the rumors either, although there were some questions in the community about whether members would participate if points were eliminated.

I'm glad that MaryAnne responded to you...however, no company would ever answer this question honestly. Gather really CAN'T tell you if this is being actively considered until they are in position to make an announcement. Hence, don't take it as 'gospel'.

I had posted a "what if" scenario earlier. But, I never said they were going anywhere and I didn't say that there was a rumour they were going away. I was just trying to see if people are here for the points and if they would not be here if there were no points.

Rumors are just words put together by someone who usually does not know what they are talking about just love to get things started boiling over...

Same for the dire Virus warnings you get in emails...or so many other dire warnings that are passed along like they are the gospel...sorry if someone sends me an email stating something is dire I go check it out myself not take the word of some rumor mill email...

I had not heard the rumor but it only stands to reason they will not take away the rewards. If they did most of the community would be gone as many are on here only for what they can make as is evidenced by the stupid point fishing articles that require no writing skills and have no actual content.

the points and rewards are a small price to pay in comparison with the revenue Gather gets from the activity on the site. Doing away with it would be counterproductive. I don't think there is any cause for alarm
