Just ONE more Gather question...

I know you can block individual email senders, but can you block from a group? I was just wondering because I keep getting emails from people because I am in a group. I like the group and I go to it and comment on the articles and what not, but I just don't like the bulk email I get from the group. Is there anything I can do?

I'm not certain. I typically weigh out the benefits, and then delete the group. I'd love to know if there was another option! Good Question!

I don't think you can block a whole group other than to remove yourself from it.

I don't think there's anyway to block group emails. That's why I removed myself from a couple of groups because there were way too many emails and it was driving me nuts.

I just block the sender (even though it is from a group), and it seems to help.

No idea! maybe when you click to read the group mail it will have a block group mail button..

wish i could help but when i start getting bulk emails i just remove myself from the group! i can't handle all the spam!

There is a way to block emails from groups you belong to. Here is how:

1. Select the My Gather tab. You will see over to the left underneath your icon and Gather points something called email preferences. Select that.

2. Once you are into the email preferences page, You will see a section called My Groups. Find the group that you want to halt emails from and make sure none of the boxes are checked for that group.

Yah... I'm afraid that I, too, just removed my membership to certain groups because the amount of email was, frankly, OVERWHELMING... I mean, I don't mind getting emails from time to time if someone has content that they really want me to read, but dozens of emails every DAY from the same group over and over is just too MUCH.

I have not a clue. I don't read any of my group emails or mass mailings. I click the box and delete away.

I've blocked three individual members of the group and the mass mailings have stopped for me. blocking three abusive people is better than giving up the group itself.

I think I am going to have to do the same. I am getting double emails because some people are in the same groups I am and they send out a mass email through each group so I get multiple mass emails from the same person about the same article.

I just left the group because of all the emails - I don't like mass emails even from a group~

Remove yourself from the group, then bookmark the URL and visit it every once and a while?

I just block the person and when they send them from a group I dont get them. Simple as that. My e-mails have went down to much of nothing.

KD that doesn't stop you from getting them in your mailbox here on Gather. Just your personal email.

I take myself out of groups that allow the members to spam like that. I have been in a few and its get sbothersome to try and find stuff that isn't spam.

I don't think you can block a group either, just delete it.

Yep -- the worst thing about removing BCCs is that now, group mail is the new BCC.
