Today, I received my $50 VISA gift card from Boomertowne (which I ordered sometime around the beginning of May). This time, it has a full series of numbers on it, which means (among other things) that I can actually check the remaining balance on the card and spend it appropriately. (The previous card -- well, let's just say there was no way to check the remaining balance, and that I had a hard time getting some stores to accept it, and leave it at that.)
I also received a pair of $3 checks from PineCone Research - okay, so that's about three loaves of bread in most stores these days, but it's still something.
Furthermore, I received three free samples in the mail -- a sample of Sheer Blonde Lustrous Touch shampoo and conditioner (which I'm giving to whichever of my daughters arrives home first and claims it), a sample of Pantene Pro-V Blonde Expressions (likewise), and a sample of Benefiber (mostly because I'm curious about how it tastes).
Also, I received a large package of free shipping materials from the Postal Service. Granted, most of it is only useful if I can either sell people on Priority shipping or can properly deconstruct them into useful components - but if nothing else, I have plenty of Delivery Confirmation labels handy. (Yes, I know it's cheaper to print out postage, but I don't have a printer (or a postal scale) handy just yet.)
We also received several free books -- well, Laura did. She received review copies of 'The Smart One' and 'Hey Neighbor, Drop Dead', and we also received free copies of Ayn Rand's 'Anthem' and 'The Fountainhead' care of the Ayn Rand Institute.
I've got my boxful of books all packed up and ready to go - I'm not sure exactly how much it weighs, but I'm pretty certain that my shipping reimbursement will be over my shipping costs for a change, which is good.
Furthermore, I got a call today from OfficeTeam -- they found a couple of local job openings and would like to know if I'd be interested in being presented for them. (Of course I said yes.) Both opportunities sound good (and one sounds absolutely ideal) -- so I'm hoping for the best.
All in all, I'd say it's been a pretty good day.

Did you hear about how Pinecone Research is thinking about starting to pay through Paypal? I can't wait!
Sounds like you got some nice stuff :)
Yep! I've switched over, but if Paypal starts eating fees out of it, I'm switching back to checks.
Patricia:
'6 to 8 weeks' seems to be a reasonable estimation for the arrival time of most free samples. (Things sent specifically for review purposes, of course, tend to arrive much faster.)
