Supermarket Sweep

I just posted another article similar to this, but after I clicked publish, I started thinking about this TV show. Does anyone remember this? They had 10 minutes(I think, I don't remember) to run around and get as many groceries in their carts as possible, and got to keep whatever the retail value of the stuff was.

I always thought I could do better than the people on the show. What's some of the stuff you would pick up to rack up your total quickly?

I loved this show! the host was horrible and the show really wasn't that good, but I couldn't... stop... watching...

You remember how many people always picked baby formula! I think I'd go for that. Doesn't take up much room in your cart, but adds up quickly. LOL

I always thought that show was so cool when I was a kid. I would grab diapers, formula and lots of meat.

Of course, I remember that show..wouldn't mind someone offering me a supermarket sweep today. I think I' d check out the meat case i.e. roasts, etc.

One of the things I would get is spices. They are so tiny and so expensive. The baby formula was huge if I remember correctly. But then again, that show was big in the 80's and considering how big my generation is, they probably needed it.

I remember this show. Most people went for the steaks or the diapers didn't they?

Yeah, I remember it. i think they had two people doing it and the one who collected the most $$'s worth, got to keep it. These days a person would have to go for the meat counter.

i used to watch that show every afternoon! I loved watching them run around like crazy and the little challenges that gave them extra points.... the high dollar items like the baby formula, diapers and meat case added up fast, but they could only get 5 of any same item

Well, just about every aisle in our store have more and more products that are supposed to be "organics". Those are quite expensive and that's what I would look for to fill my basket. From produce to eggs and canned goods, they're all over the store!

I loved this show. I would also get a lot of meat, formula, and big wheels of cheese.

Oh yeah I remeber this. We had it in Europe too. I would pick some belgium chocolate, coffee, steak, sea food.

I loved that show! I'd go for the medicines and the meats, then look for big expensive looking things and shove them in my cart.

the tv show was exactly what i thought about when i read the title of your article! well if i was at the grocery store, i would grab things that would last long and that costs me the most money, like razor blades, shampoo and conditioner, facewash, ect.

There was a limit of 5 like items and I would have headed to the medicine aisle quickly. The little bottles are costly and would grab vitamins also. I'm headed to the meat area, if I still have time.
I remember the show and I would have gone straight for the desserts even though it wouldn't add too much money to the needed total. :)
