Going out on a "date" with my husband is a rarity. It usually comes down to the fact that obtaining a babysitter is not an easy task for us. Today however, my sister-in-law was watching my precious little boy, and my husband and I had the afternoon to ourselves!
We had a gift card to Olive Garden (and a coupon from the Sunday paper a few weeks ago ) so we decided to go there for lunch. We were seated immediately, and we received great service. Matt ordered the "create your own pizza" meal, and I had the parmesan crusted tilapia with angel hair pasta and vegetables. When the bill came due, Matt handed the waiter the gift card, coupon and his debit card. When the waiter returned, he was laughing, saying we only owed $0.28 and he could cover that. We said no, to put it on the debit card, so we could add in the tip. He laughed again, saying that's what he really wanted to know--he just didn't want to put the change on our card if he didn't need to. My own husband was amazed himself at how little we paid for what turned out to be a great meal!
After lunch, we headed to the movies. We had $30 worth of gift certificates to the movies--$20 from Christmas and $10 from my work. (My work does provide free tickets to various events, so those are usually the "dates" we go on.) We bought our tickets and refreshments, received some cash back, and we only had to pay $1.00 for parking.
When we left, I did a little math. Because of the cash back on the gift certificates, we only ended up paying three cents! Yes, my husband paid $0.03 to take me out for the day! What a generous man I have!

Matt said he was going to circle the $0.28 due and send you a copy of the receipt! We did learn from the best, after all!
