We've had a busy week here at the Cajun Hideaway. Fishin' swimmin', picnics, fireworks, boat rides and cleaning house.
Summer college classes ended last week for my daughter of the heart, Kel, so this week was sposed to be a week of rest. Nope, instead we made up for lost time by doing the things we missed during the first six weeks of summer.
Thursday found us at Horseshoe Bend on Beaver Lake where our friends had setup camp for the long weekend. My five year old grandson, BB, was thrilled when Capt. Howard asked if BB would like a ride on his pirate pontoon ship. Hanging onto our hats we toured the lake:

And it wasn't long before Capt. Howard relinquished his duties to Capt. Goomus, Pirate of the Hillbilly Seas!

Toward sunset we decided to fight the crowd and head over to the fireworks in Veteran's Park. The smiles on BB's face made the whole sardine parking escapade worthwhile. Arriving home, we broke out our own stash of fireworks:

Friday took us back out to Horseshoe Bend with a trunk full of picnic goodies, dogs, tator salad, pork'n beans, chips and pop. Alas, the picnic area in the day activity area was flooded!

Making the best of a bad situation, BB and a new found friend decided to have a bit of fun anyway!

News was received the beginning of last week that the MN Queen of Clean would be arriving in Arkansas next weekend (that's a whole long article in itself..hahaha). Because we're leaving on a short vacation Tuesday-Friday this coming week we decided we'd better "git'er done", so yesterday we began preparations, even BB pitched in!
"Hey, ya missed a spot!"
