Baking Soda and Ammonia to Unclog Drains

I came across a great money-saving, cleaning tip that I thought I'd share. Instead of using store-bought drain opener, it is cheaper to use baking soda and ammonia with lemon to unclog drains. It is also best to treat sinks and bath tubs monthly to help keep them under control.

This makes sense. I took an Everyday Chemicals class in college, and the one thing that really stuck was the everything has a PH level. Neutral (water) is 7. Anything higher than 7 is Basic, anything lower is Acidic. I don't remember exact PHs but baking soda is Basic, and Ammonia is acidic (vinegar works too). So I can see these chemicals "reacting" and clearing out a drain. It also helps for stain removal. Proportion are based on what you're try to get out.

I use baking soda with white vinegar. bubbles like crazy and does a nice job cleaning. =)
