Granny CG's Good News
I was just down at Otto's Odd Lot Knob Shop the other day with Olga looking for just the right doorknob for the bathroom down at the News office, since our old one fell off and shattered. That knob had to have been a hundred years old. I know the "facilities" are ancient! Anyway, Olga and Otto got into one of their visits, and I was on my own, wandering through a maze of knobs. I found some real treasures, and then was faced with choosing among them. There were knobs with seafaring mottoes, knobs with cattle brands, knobs with Egyptian symbols, knobs from the Victorian era, knobs from some grand old hotel, knobs from a cathedral somewhere in France which were brought back by our last World War I vet, Howie Mann, and sold to Otto by the nursing home after Howie's death. The knob I finally chose was porcelain, with hand-painted wildflowers, signed by the artist. Otto refused to let me pay for it, so of course I'm mentioning the Knob Shop. Who couldn't use a little business boost in this day and age? But beyond business, I'm guessing that those willing to venture into Otto's maze will find themselves enchanted and intrigued and delighted. This reporter highly recommends it!
As long as I'm recommending things, have you been on the Inner Springs Garden Tour yet? It's not to be missed. One late entry (sorry, no photos) is the mostly vegetable garden of police officer Hiram Canoodle, whose son, Josh, won our last poetry contest. Someone in the village has been doing some guerilla gardening, by the way: there are new flowers blooming in the vacant lot on Main Street where before there was a bare patch with weeds. My goodness! Our very own mystery! And speaking of mysteries, our dedicated mystery reporter Sharle Dubois has been following her latest trails to who-knows-where, and has promised to report back who-knows-when? That Sharle!
Those who have inquired about the Portobello family's latest slow food special at the Holy Grill Cafe are being invited to a recipe-swap and canning class after hours. The neighborhood children, I hear, will be practicing out back for their upcoming circus. More on that in the next issue of the Inner Springs News.

Are we ready for a Pharmacy Company here?
Sandy - I'm guessing that doorknobs already in place don't get you muddled, though! That could be a disaster! (c:*
Danielle, I've lived with doorknobs like that - I remember loving the feel of them.
In this old farmhouse I'm in now, I love the doorknobs - old polished brass; and one green porcelain one.
