I don't have a problem with it...I am old enough and some people aren't....seems like a good way to keep things out of the hands of kids...as for the cold medicines, it was a must...kids were getting stoned on them....

I have been in this county all my life, yes all my life, I guess they are not doing well.

My husband has been carded for buying spray paint and model car glue.

I've been carded for buying white out, and not beer. Go figure.

I don't mind being carded at all.

I can understand why they card for some items now a days.

It makes sense but for stuff like white out makes no sense.

I know if you pay by check they do it too, but I think they must be looking for some one.

Since under 18 isn't allowed to buy tobacco products, there's no need for them to have lighters. As for requiring proof of age for some of the other products; spray paint, model glue, white out, etc.; some use them for 'huffing'...spraying or emptying them into plastic bags and inhaling the fumes to get high. I was just carded earlier this week to buy cigarettes...and I'm 40. I sure don't look like I'm underage, but that made my day and I couldn't stop smiling.

I worked in retail for 11 years and we werea always supposed to if kids for those items, even pain pills like tylenol.

I don't mind being carded makes me laugh at my age ...Why does a kid need a lighter anyway????

Paint, glue, white out and lighter are too much and the laws preventing the sale (many of which have been stuck down) are just another way to collect revenues. There are far more who use these for their intended purposes and it isn't right that they are punished. The ones who huff need more than someone blocking access to them because they will get it anyway. If they can't buy it they'll steal it. The walls that get tagged are well known and when big brother has cameras all over the place they often know who is responsible. Not to mention taggers usually leave some kind of known signature many can be identified by their style. The problem is that the taggers that are the biggest problems are the ones that local LE are afraid of so it's easier and more profitable to do nothing about the problems and place undo burdens on store owners and children. And we wonder why...

Maybe Target should be more concerned with the fact that Bic's are no longer made in USA and the people manufacturing these are younger than typical driving age in the US. It's the difference between fare trade and fair trade.

I was o n vacation in Louisiana. Went with my friend to a swinging cocktail lounge. They wanted to see your ID at the door. They looked at me and said we don't need to see yours. They said we can see you are old enough.

Lots of stuff like Sudafed has been over the counter here for about 8 years. It's used to make meth, so you have to sign for it. Supposedly, if you buy too much, the TBI pays you a visit.

I just started as a cashier in a grocery store and we have to card for liquor and cigarettes of course but diet pills as well. We card anyone that looks under 40. Some people take it as a compliment, some don't. Nothing I can do when I am just doing my job. I personally don't mind being carded.

I can understand if a 5 yr old tries to buy a lighter its a no no but yea this is funny. I used to buy my moms cigarettes for her when I was like 11. I bought a pack for myself too.... Guess what lol I am not a smoker!!! I hated smoking but I tried it!

Someone probably got sued because they sold a lighter to a teen and now Target or wherever has to protect themselves.

Some things are just silly. I still laugh when I see the warning label on McDonalds Coffee.... It's hot may cause burns... WELL who would have known????

They need to proof people buying Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol.

They need to proof people to make sure they aren't ET. (English teachers).

For lighters? That's a bit strange considering they're used to light things like candles even, but oh well. They are IDing here for some medicines, rubber cement, spray paint, etc, though (because of huffing).

They need to keep this stuff out of the hands of minors. I have no problem with carding.

Hmmm, well... I don't drive so I do have issues with their acceptable form of id, although I understand about the birth certificate... even the social security office won't accept a birth certificate any more!

Of course... I choose Target is also one of those stores I choose not to support with my money, so I won't be having that particular issue there at least.

I think the only time I've ever really been irritated with a "carding" issue was when the person waiting on me had waited on me numerous times, seen my id numerous times, knew me on sight.... but refused to serve me the one time I didn't have my id on me.

Picture Id's should be given at birth and an updated picture every year. More to spend our money on to be safe. What a world.

My daughters freind was suspended from school for having a lighter they called it paraphanelia..the funny thing is this kid uses the lighter for her eye liber..her mom drugged tested her and not one thing showed up..not even nicotine..needless to say the kid goes to another school now. I think things are getting out of hand. Those who have children..both parents need to be responsable for their children..why regulate everything....a lighter really..while they were harrasing this gilr I wouldnt doubt the stoner idiots were burning a jay by the back stop..way to go
