I have written poetry for many years now and have been published numerous times in the Library of Poetry's anthologies. In the last year I have received two Editor's Choice Awards. The Library of Poetry offers free contests and the chance to be read and published. Below I have added a link to their poetry contest. I encourage all who have not tried the site to give it a chance as it has given me opportunity to see my work in print.
As a Library of Poetry's Poetry Ambassador I wish you all great success in your art!!

The poem below is my most recent winner...
Wish Not For Love
Wish we not for love to come? It would be a denial of the dawn.
Were we to tire of it? Shall we tire of that morning light?
As each heartbeat comes, as each breath we take-
That we tremble at the loss of it,
as if overshadowed by the dark night.
We pray incessantly for that bright dawn of our love-
within his eyes, upon his lips, delivered in his touch.
Do we look for our existence within those eyes?
Upon those lips? Are we delivered by his touch alone?
If all are taken from us do we cease to exist?
Being but night shadows without the light of day.
Never may that be so...except...
How can there be shadow if there is no light-
nor object to cast it?
There would be no night if there were no day to
make its division from-
And there could be no half if there were no
whole to separate.
So, say I?
I may have existence without you,
but that existence is not complete.

Marie, I appreciate your point about the anthologies. I never buy them myself. But I do appreciate that it is a free site and I have been given two awards, including a beautiful medallion. I also like that the contests are run all the time. Odds for any contest are slim but everyone has an equal chance of winning and it does not require purchasing a book to enter. It's s nice safe way to gain exposure and be in print, all with the possibility of winning a contest.
it is a well known fact that poetry .com will publish anythign to make money.
I loved your poem and think it deserves to be read and honoured, but i would never again put my poetry on their site.
Good luck with your writing.
I too found it to easy a win. So I just wrote some words not really even associated words. . .and got a letter saying how great it was. this stopped my writing for a while.
here at gather I get honest feed back while I hone my talents.

I would like to find genuine places to publish my poetry. I was contacted by Poetry.com and asked to purchase a book that would contain my poems in a collection of other peoples works. After rating others poems on that site, I am assured that the so called copyright that is affixed to mine and others poems protects only them. They offer all kinds of cards and other literary media with our poetry for sale to the public. I don't quite understand that. I appreciate being asked to join this group.
