August 27th, 1987 Straits of Hormuz: Author Les Aspin
Les Aspin, Democrat from Wisconsin, was chairman of the Armed Services Committee when he authored a piece for the NY Times.
Ronald Reagan was President, but on his way out. After 7 years of Democrat abuse, Ronnie was seeking little more than a final few years on his ranch.
In the end Reagan allowed Kuwaiti takers to reflag with Old Glory. Iran went back to it's war with Iraq, rather than bring upon themselves their own demise.
The Straits of Hormuz flowed with oil, up and down the very nose of the Iranians.
I sure do miss the old school democrats that became the new school republicans; where have they all gone?

Iran is planning a civil war in Lebanon, right now. The stuff is going to hit the fan, as soon as Israel attacks Iran's nuclear sites. I suspect that Al Sadr's Mahdi army will stage a renewed , and perhaps larger offensive in Iraq at the same time. Iran could also start things by trying to shut down the Gulf again, but that's a pretty hollow threat (though the oil speculators say differently).
This may, or may not happen before the election. No one is privy to all of the pieces of the puzzle, but any thinking person knows that more war is on the horizon. Iran can not be allowed to posess a nuclear weapon. Just look at Pakistan, for a lesson learned. We will need the Dems to be "on board," when the stuff hits the fan.
I know you see that potential in Obama, and I hope you're right, if he's elected.
Yes, I do, too! Now, and you may not agree, the "old school" Democrats, who have become the "new-school" Republicans, are a blight on the "party."
This whole new "World" we live in simply sucks...
Christopher, they are republishing EVERYTHING, the morons *G*
Jackass behind a computer. Coward.
For entertainment purposes check out this article where Tony (lol) S got his ass handed to him when he tried to pick on a wife of a service man.

jJack,
Do you have a link to the NY Times article you are refering to?
"Christians" we ARE; "bible-toting activists" we can do without...
OK, I think I'm done laughing. We can find the sunken Iranian Navy, if you like, tony. And for the record, both the Taliban and Saddam are out of power, so we did win the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are working on stabilizing the successor governments to both of those totalitarian dictatorships.
I know, you don't care about the facts, tony. You must like getting your ass handed to you.
Christopher, sometimes I get lucky *chuckle*
Thank You Richard....
