Please Help Me Out: Epinions and Reviews

I've got an account at epinions that I've been writing reviews for for a while...  I need your help, please.  If you could take a look at just one of my reviews and tell me what more I could have written to make it Very Helpful instead of just Helpful, I'd be very thankful.  I don't know how I need to better organize it, or what more information to include. 

 

This is a review I just wrote on a children's book called The Berenstain Bears Go to School.  Please tell me how I can improve it.  Here's the link: Review

Well, you just gave me an excuse to sign into Epinions. I used to be very active there, but I hadn't been over there in a long, long time (had to reactivate my account actually). It's so hard with children's books because I think many people on Epinions rate things "Helpful" or "Very Helpful" solely based on the length of the review, and yours isn't that long. I gave you a "Very Helpful" rating though, so maybe that will help. Sometimes people just rate based on the ratings they aready see.

I went over there and read it. I found it informative, but a bit brief. Perhaps you could talk about whether your children liked it, what lead you to it. A bit more personal. Commenting about the illustrations perhaps. It's hard, I know. I've been active there for years and sometimes, it's just plain hard to cover something in a review. There just isn't that much to say about the products. I hope that helps. Peace

I rated you here and there.... I had not realized that they would not let you see the reviews anymore unless you were a member.... how rude.... I see nothing wrong with the review... and although it has been awhile since I read the book... I think your review probably has more words in it than the book does.... the grammar is good and I did not spot spelling errors.... I think the main determinant on what rating you get on epinions is who you know... not what you know... Everyone cultivates a crew of folks to go read and rate their work... especially since they started their $10 for 10 campaigns... where if you don't get very helpful you dont get paid... The site has definitely taken a turn for the worse...

Sarah,

The way to sharpen your reviews is to use examples and an active voice instead of a passive voice. For example, instead of saying "My kids loved it", use something like "My daughter loved it because the sister bear reminds her of herself and we really laughed at the part where she gets tangled up in the sweater when she's dressing herself".
Other than that, Sarah, I thought it was a good review and pretty thorough.

Hi Sarah, Epinions is all about personal experience as well as thoroughly explaining the product. The people who rate there want to know how your experience with the product went. I always start with an introduction, of why I read that particular book, or used that particular product. Then go in to the product explanation, then end with my personal experience and thoughts about the product.
