When we think of clichés it is usually with a connotation of disapproval, however the staying power of these phrases proves there is truth behind every cliché. It as plain as the nose on your face that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Everything else is here today and gone tomorrow, but cliches keep on keeping on, these pearls of wisdom live to a ripe old age. Just when you think they are down and out someone speaks off the cuff and time and time again we are fighting the battle all over again.
The story is as old as time, you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can turn over a new leaf. Old habits die hard, but if can go cold turkey the truth will set you free. When you are at wit's end you may see the light at the end of the tunnel and someone will take the words right out of your mouth. Then you have to start from scratch fighting tooth and nail while hoping against hope that you won't go off the deep end. It's as plain as day that cliches are the road to nowhere and can drive you up a wall. When it rains it pours, it's more than you bargained for and you are probably ready for the funny farm.
I'm going to tie up those loose ends and keep a stiff upper lip while I finish what I start. I speak for myself when I say I know I am wearing out my welcome, but I have almost come full circle. I know you are saying "give me a break, this is the last straw," but don't get your knickers in a knot since it's not over until the fat lady sings. The pen is mightier than the sword and a good play on words will make you laugh until you cry like a baby or maybe it will make you green in the gills. So I will take my leave, I know you are thinking "it's too good to be true, but there can be too much of a good thing. Last, but not least, time will tell if wonders will ever cease. When it's all said and done I hope you will forgive and forget this or at least let bygones be bygones after all, alls well that ends well and he who laughs last, laughs best.

One of my favourite cliches is "Can't live with 'em, Can't throw 'em off the balcony" (or should that be, "Can't live without 'em"?)
Zara xoxo
Clever article, though I wouldn't call the one above a cliche--as it is indeed truth.
bravo
You're preaching to the converted, I find most cliches to be a slap in the face, so I avoid them like the plague. Most people babble like a brook with cliches, but I'm filled to the brim. But, I suppose people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
