Who doesn't love pasta? Whether you're watching carbs or limiting calories, pasta can make a great-tasting, filling meal at home or when dining out. These two selections are very similar. Olive Garden's Linguine alla Marinara is part of their "Garden Fare" menu, which is supposed to be healthier and lighter than the rest of the menu. Fazoli's Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce is similar to its competitor, and known to be a great value. Which selection will satisfy your urge for pasta for fewer calories?
Even though these dishes are pretty similar, they differ greatly in nutritional information. Olive Garden's Linguine alla Marinara--even the larger dinner portion--is a little more diet-friendly, containing 551 calories and 8 grams of fat. Fazoli's Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce (regular size, which is their largest portion) contains 119 more calories (670 to be exact), but is lower in fat (3.5 grams). At whichever restaurant you frequent, order the small or lunch portion and you'll save about 200 calories. Both locations also offer whole wheat pasta as a substitution by request, which will boost your fiber and protein intake, keeping you fuller longer.

Something to bear in mind - making something "low-fat" means only that the fat has been replaced with something else - carrageenan gel or guar gum or some other food additive. Personally I would rather deal with a little bit more fat - which you can control the amount of by making the sauce yourself - than eat something the constitution of which I don't know all the details.
