The floods that are engulfing the middle of this great country are destroying our collectibles and paintings. Long cherished memories are floating away and being flushed from our hands and we can do nothing about it. You can obtain the insurance value of most items but you can never trully replace the articles memories or what they mean to you!
Ever since the Tsumami in Indonesia, and the fact that I am getting older, I have been obsessed with the thought of how much of our heritage is being destroyed by natures' rath. A painting or print just needs to get damp and it is damaged. If it gets wet it will be devastated. If an Item gets broken or lost we may not see another. Thats why I changed my name on Ebay to Capecodrecycle.
Everyone has got to take some steps to protect what they can. Wrap glass Items in bubble wrap if you are not using them and place in a bubble mailer with the description on it. That way you wont unwrap something you don't need. Protect your Papers in waterproofing.
The more items you preserve the less that will be lost forever. Even if they float out of your house , They might float to someone unharmed.
I wish we could figure a way To protect paintings and if you have an idea for the poor people in flood areas to save their paintings please comment on my rant and save a painting!!!!!!Originals can only be painted once.
And recycle what you don't want. I had a yard sale and EVERYTHING was $.25 cents. made $70 in two days and everybody recycled what I was going to throw away anyway. At the end I put everything free and every single item was taken away. My house is a lot cleaner.
One other note is with all this flooding and fires and mudslides, collectibles are getting more scare. Then that means they are worth more money. With all these disasters, things must be getting pretty expensive to replace!
So post your way to save a collectible!
I am on Ebay
