The Sandcastle competetion and display at Hampton Beach NH just ended this week. I took two trips to the coast for cycle rides and pictures of the castles. The following pictures are of the individual competition with the artists at work.

Janet, when they are finished a mix of a gallon of elmers glue is mixed with water and sprayed on the sculptures. Believe it or not wind and not rain is the biggest problem. Sad but they are bulldozed before July croud starts arriving.

Thanks for the notice! I am a ceramic sculptor, but have only tried my hand at small sculptures in the sand....I'd love to try this out someday. this sand must be very fine.
Laura, it is special sand and they truck in 300 tons of it for the competition.
