Going Head To Head With The Perfection Beast (Art & Writing Journal Collaboration)

This is something I've been meaning to post for a while, but I wanted to put the finishing touches on the pages first.

It's no surprise that the perfection beast would be the focus of this 2-page layout, but rather than bemoan how horrible it is, I decided to take a lighter approach to it - a comical one as well.

I started with the word "Perfection" in large magazine cut-out lettering. I purposely mis-matched them and put them in messily.



Then I decided I'd take a humorous medical approach to this. I called Perfection the "illness" and listed some of the symptoms. (If you look close there's an error in the wording and I LEFT IT - a big step for me)

I then listed the cure: A prescription of remedies to combat the 'illness.' To go along with the medical tone I made a prescription bottle out of orange vellum and made 'pills' out of  rhinestone and jewelled stick-ons. At first I wanted it to look like 'real' pills, but I decided I wanted to stay with the light-hearted and comical approach here too.
