UPDATE On Our Eldest Monarch Caterpillar's Fall (Photo Essay)

Well, I stayed up filled with worry and guilt after the fall for nearly 4 hours. At 7:30am I finally turned in, but not before taking a friend's advice to lay it on a leaf. I did so barely seeing any movement. At this time I thought I had all but lost it.

This was taken more than two hours after the fall.


When we woke I went to check on the caterpillar afraid of what I might find. I didn't see it at first... only the three others that are a bit younger. This was a hopeful thing. If it had moved then maybe it was okay afterall, right?

I looked more struggling through the thick netting. There it was. Our beautiful CHRYSALIS! The little one made it's chrysalis over night. My guess is the videos were the early struggles of going into the chrysalis stage.





Okay, so that's a relief. Now what? Do I hang it up? (I think I read they need GRAVITY to properly form) or do I leave it alone other than to feed the three that are in there with it? (They have plenty of food for at least 3 days maybe more)

One danger down. Now we have to be careful while the magic happens.
