Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million dollars to help children who are affected by the Iraq war, both Iraqi children and the children of service men and women.
When they donated millions to help out in New Orleans after Katrina, even building a house there, some people said they were only doing it for the publicity.
I say, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Mel Gibson, among others, all got a lot of publicity for acting very, very badly.
If Brad and Angelina, who don't need it, get some publicity for helping out untold thousands of people, more power to them:
Here's the story:

A foundation started by Hollywood film stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has donated $1 million to children impacted by the war in Iraq.
Usmagazine.com said the Jolie-Pitt Foundation has pledged $500,000 for school supplies and education programs for refugee children in Iraq, as well as $500,000 for U.S. children who have either lost a parent deployed in Iraq or have a parent serving there.
The donations for U.S. children will go to a tutoring initiative at the Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero Program, the entertainment news Web site said.
Jolie, who is pregnant with her and Pitt's fifth and sixth children, is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

They're trying and trying is a very wonderful start.
But yes, they do a lot of good work. I remember reading an article that said Jolie donates half her income to charity. HALF. Obviously, they aren't hurting for money, but considering how other rich people horde their wealth it is nice to see people willing to fund projects to actually make a difference.
I think it's great that just by them giving to organizations, they've made it "cool". While I think it's ridiculous that it has to be "cool" for many to participate, I think they've done a great job in motivating people who would not ordinarily donate to give both money and time.
"I say, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Mel Gibson, among others, all got a lot of publicity for acting very, very badly." --> In reality they got a lot of publicity for being drunks.
However, a million dollars is probably less than 1% of their yearly income. It's a tremendous boon to the charity, but would be like most of us donating less than $700.
I totally agree! They really go so far beyond what most do, and deserve to the recognition for it.
