Alas, I did not go, but the photos are very enjoyable.
Part 2: My husband's trip to Italy Part 2 - Venice and Riccione
Part 3:My husband's trip to Italy Part 3 - The mountains and castle of San Marino
(I have been to Italy, near Turino, 10 years ago, when I had a business trip to Geneva and brought the family along for a quick, one-week stay in Geneva, Bern and Annecy, with a quick side trip to Mount Blanc and Monte Cervinia (the Italian side of Zermatt and the Matterhorn).)

One of the islands on the lagoon, heading toward Venezia - Venice.
My husband went to Italy a few weeks ago for a two-week international track & field competition. He sprints and does the long jump and triple jump.
The competition was in Riccioni, but he and his track mates took a one-day trip to Venice.

Nearly in Venice. The water is such a beautiful color.

The color of the water nicely complements the brightly colored houses.

This is a Gondola lagoon, where tourists can board Gondolas.

One of many small bridges along Venezia's miles of canals.

A restaurant along a canal.

The beauty one sees as the Gondola glides down the canals.

These photos are so restful to look at - the clarity of the water, the earthen tones of the houses, the bright colors of the passengers and the Gondolier.

A refreshing sip of mineral water as the Gondola passes under a bridge.

Some of the canals are very narrow, as you see here.

A broad canal. For some reason, this photo brings to mind a small fleet of very small pirate ships.

The Rialto bridge

More canals in Venezia. The water looks so inviting, doesn't it?

A close up.

Assicurazioni Generali.

Such beauty.

Passing through a narrow canal

And the day's journey to Venezia is nearly done.
