Organic Herbs, Flowers, Fruits and Nuts

I just love being able to go out into the yard and make a salad or grab a snack right off of the tree !

My friends are amazed at how good a REAL peach tastes - LOL

I am slowly adding to my collection of organic herbs, flowers, fruits and nuts.

Let's see, I have:

English walnut trees and hazelnut bushes.   (I will have almond trees too as a dear friend sent me some organic almond seeds to start)

Plum, peach, pear, apple, and cherry - fruit trees.   (Maybe some others too, but I can't think of them right now)

I have way too many herbs and flowers to list, but I have a whole lot of lavender and roses as I use a bunch of them in my soaps, perfumes, balms, bath teas, sachets, neck pillows and eye masks/pillow ... .

I also love to cook from scratch so all of these really come in handy.   Look on my site for rose recipes.

I am trying to teach my kids about healthy living and Organic gardening.   They love to grow their own food and will often try something new just because they grew it themselves.

Our skin is much nicer too - now that we no longer use store-bought soaps and lip balms... .

I only have 1 acre of land too - so I had to plan things out very well - LOL
Most of my fruit trees are from dwarfed stock and I keep them pruned both for healthy growth and for looks.

I get a LOT of food and medicine from my yard.

My son and his new wife are starting their own Organic farm In Alabama. I is great to be able to go out and get something out of the garden that will not kill you in the long run.

Thanks, again, Diana! I've missed using organically grown food and am just now getting back to it. I know about "Victory Gardens" from my mother, grandmothers and aunts. When we lived in the country, we grew our own vegetables and fruit and baked our own bread. Our eggs were a barter with a lady who had "yard eggs" for sale, and we never wanted for pecans because one older neighbor was happy to let us have buckets full in exchange for sprucing up her yard. Nothing tastes better than soups made with vegetables and herbs from your own garden!

I wish them well !
What kinds of things will they grow ?
I may become a customer someday as I only have an acre so far and can't grow everything that I want to.
I plan on buying the 8-10 acres of woods/swamp behind my property one of these days, but for now I have to plan my space very carefully.

I am so glad that you can have your own organic garden again !!!
There's just nothing like eating food fresh from the earth.

I learned a lot fro my Mom's mom. I helped her quite a bit and learned from her as we worked.

I want to get chickens out here again, but I am still getting my herb gardens expanded and trying to make repairs to the house and fighting with kids and ...

If you ever get any of extra pecans, you know where to send them - LOL - Yummmmmmmmmmm

Don't give up !
You may not have been born with a green thumb, BUT you can learn how to be an organic gardener anyway.
I have a bunch of info on my main (informational) website about composting and pest control... and there are a whole lot of places where you can learn too.

Isn't the organic way the best? Just think if more Americans grew their own Victory Gardens right now. Wouldn't that help with the gas crisis? And the obesity crisis? Bring people together as they trade veggies? I believe that gardening is a way of life and I so wish others would begin to just dive in!
I just planted tomatoes and bell peppers last month in pots on my porch, and I planted a pineapple top yesterday. I haven't killed anything YET, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

I am proud of you for trying to make a difference in your own life.
And, don't worry, if you happen to kill a plant - I wont call the plant police - LOL

Even I lose a plant now and then to bugs or a rabbit... .
That's okay, as I expect too and plant extras. Grandma always said that you have to plant some for the bugs - some for the rabbits - and then th rest is for you - LOL

Organic gardening is more work in some things, BUT the benefits FAR outway the work.

Ever since I was a child I went for walks and picked stuff. From strawberries to wild horseradish. Mom always made it fun and we got to try alot of wierd and wonderful things. My Younger sister is the only one who still does it.....What a shame.

I used to do that with my kids too, but now it is too hard for me to walk.
How I used to love to go hiking and camping and foraging !!!
