I was watching the news the other day. It was saying petty crime in my area of the USA has gone up by 50%. One news story caught my eye. It made me feel bad. But not at the same time.
A 17 yr old boy broke into a local business. He heard the alarm and ran. The police heard the alarm and caught the boy a few blocks away. Now the kicker to the story was when the mom was showed on air. This is the part that just breaks my heart. Earlier that day she had informed her kids that she had lost her job, they were being evicted from their home and she had no money to buy food. The teen was only breaking in to the business to get some food for his family.
After hearing the story, how could I not feel sorry for him? The boy has never been in trouble before. But now faces charges of felony burglary.

social services should help them and perhaps help the boy get a job
i doubt they will but that would be best
I am not sure if the teen was even aware of foodbanks as an option. Some kids just don't know about such things. They may know they exist but don't know where to go. I think he was scared and did something stupid.
I hope the judge does realize why the boy did what he did and goes easy on him as well.
lemonade stand!? come on
plasma - have to be 18
paper route -well here you have to have a car to drive round and deliver
Sounds like the kid panicked in a big way and felt responsible for his family.
What he needs is someone to take him under their wing and help him become the best he can be.
I agree the kid did do a stupid mistake. The judge did go easy on him as it was his first time in trouble.
