Obama/same old pork barrel spending

First, this amount is nothing in comparison to the overall budget. Secondly, most of this spending would happen with or without earmarking. The simple fact is, most of this spending is what is deemed necessary, and would likely pass as individual spending bills, if they were introduced as such.

Finally, the king of sleazy lobbyist entanglements is probably the last person in Washington who should be talking about pork spending.

John McCain has already offered to pay for his Battery of the Future project with $300,000,000 of taxpayer money.

The people that are fools are the ones that dont seem to notice that Mccain is not Bush's identical twin.Yes,he agreed with him on some things,but he also worked across the aisles and is willing to work with anyone that has a good idea,one thing we need a lot more of in the senate.He opposed the president on a number of things also.We do NOT know Mccain will be 4 more years of Bush.He has many good ideas of his own.He is definitely not perfect,but this year for many of us once again we are voting for the lesser of two evils.

McCain is a straight line party hack. He's voted with the Bush Gang 97% of the time for the past two years.

Saint Red Ink Ronnie RayGun also eliminated some, and put limits on other itemized deductions for the middle class, which extend to this very day. The anointed one actually raised the tax rate for middle income brackets, while drastically cutting the upper brackets' tax rates. I can still remember him saying that the problem in America was that the wealthy were paying too much taxes, and that the middle class were not paying enough. That was the BEGINNING of the war on the middle class, which is still raging to this very day. And along with the destruction of the middle class has come the destruction of America.

Only the middle class is what makes America a strong nation - - The teacher who teacher your kids, the concrete worker you pours your sidewalks, the scientist who discovers a new technology, the carpenter who builds your homes, the law enforcement officer who puts his life on the line to keep you safe, the volunteer soldier who fights your wars. The middle class America that goes to work everyday to earn a wage to pay his bills, put food on the table, buy gas for his car, pay his rent or mortgage, and if he is lucky enough, have a little left over to enjoy life. It is the middle class America who drives the economy by making purchases, whether out of necessity or for pleasure.

It is the middle class America who is told how much he is going to be paid for his labor, told how much taxes he is going to pay from those wages, told how much he is going to pay for the items he purchases, and then in the end, expected to make ends meet, on a completely unlevel playing field.

I hope Obama will lower the middle and lower brackets by 10%
I hope he eliminates the tax loopholes the wealthy enjoy to avoid paying taxes.
I hope he removes the itemized deduction limitations for the middle class.
I hope he reinstates credit card interest and sales taxes as itemized deductions.
I hope he eliminates the AMT, which now only targets the middle class.
I would like to see people who earn less than 50k/yr pay NO taxes.
I would like to see Obama cut out all of the wasteful spending, especially in the military.
I would like to see Obama eliminate commodity speculation on oil and other critical markets.
I would like to see Obama curtail subsidies to corporations who have profits above a certain level.
I would like to see Obama create government sponsored jobs to rebuild America's crumbling infrastructure, given to American workers who are jobless, paying them a decent wage.
I would like the see unearned income taxed at a higher rate than earned income.
It is ridiculous that we should penalize work. We should penalize LACK of work!

My vote is for Barak Obama.
He may not achieve these things.
But I am damn sure he is a better bet than John McCain.

earmarks are dangerous because they are far too often simple vote buying schemes supporting things that do NOT come under anything resembling the general welfare clause nor would they pass an open vote so thats why they are inserted in bigger bills...we all know congressmen are honest and are just trying to save voting time by massing these helpful earmarks for a single vote instead of standing on their own for individual votes.

that said, both these morons are running up huge proposed bills but only the Repub ones are bad.
