The river was our playground
rippling of waves our musical sound
enjoying our selves, such a wonderful thrill
I'd give anything for a moment if time could stand still
How many times did I sit on that dock
Never once looked at the hands on the clock
Waiting for the crab nets to be finally full
And he would come and together we'd
Then we built a fire upon the beach
With a big pot of water boiling just within reach
Dropped in the crabs, until they turned red
laid out newspapers, and we were both fed
But it wasn't just food that fed us those days
It was sheer happiness in so many ways
Just being together was all that it took
And the sly little messages sent with a look
The river is still there, and so are the waves
but time has gone by, thousands of days
My heart is there somewhere on the dock and the beach
And he is still whispering to me , just out of reach

This is so beautiful and touching and as you take me to those days back in the days, I see so much love that still shines through. Your writing always reminds me of my granny and grandpa...........and every word of yours inspires me to be just like that.
