What are you??? A PLANT???
"It's the way I was raised…" she said.
"every Saturday we'd scrub the whole house,...
walls, pictures down and all".
There was more, but not fair, at this point.
AND certainly not the only mouth
I have heard the "I was raised" story from.
I was "raised" certain ways too, we all were.
But I'm not a plant, I'm a person.
I took the good, learned the lessons of the bad…
Then left my childhood in a smile,
or if needs be, in moments of stress,
a grimace, a lost look and a twitch.
For no one "inspects" me, I'll not ha' it.
Not for love, nor money, nor a good time.
"It's the way I was raised", they said.
Root, hog,... or die,
it's YOUR life you are
responsible for now.
The stone softened by the
heat temporarily, BUT…
the angry man behind still stands.

That's why we secular folk have ethics (self-determined) rather than "morals" (preached to young ones until they're brainwashed, and often based on ancient beliefs). I like Abe Lincoln's explanation. He said, "When I do good things, I feel good. When I do bad things, I feel bad. That's MY religion."
Former plants re-thinking their indoctrinations are welcome to come check out http://www.the-brights.net !
