What is the story behind your name or your child's name?

My mom named me after a character in a movie, not because of the song, Mandi.

I named my daughter , Elizabeth Victoria after my mother who is Victoria Elizabeth.

I was named after my dads aunt.

My daughter name was a combination of my sister and mine.

My middle child name is a combination of my husband and Tommy lee.

I suspect I was named after my dad's aunt elizabeth and his sister mary elizabeth. But my mom didnt want me to be called liz, so they shortened it to just Beth.

One of my kids shares the initials of a friend of mine that helped me out when I was in dire need of a friend.
I had moved cross country with a gf only to have her cheat on me within months of us being there. TJ offered me a place to stay when he heard my story and we became best friends.

My nme was just a name my parents picked - named for no one. I named my son Corey Lee because I like the name Corey, & Lee is my name. I named my oldest daughter Amber Nicole because I like the names, & I named my youngest Morgan Briana because her father had a crush on Morgan Fairchild & wanted to give at least ONE name to his children, & I liked the name Briana (I wanted to name her Briana Danielle)

I don't have children, but my own name and middle name, Jonathan Thomson, are in part a tribute to my grandfather, whose name was John, and Thomson is my father's first name.

My sisters' first names are not related to family, but my younger brother, David, is named after our other grandfather.

We just picked out names that sounded good to us. My wife was interested in having our first son as a Jr. to me, but I didn't like the idea myself, so it was nixed without much argument.
It's funny, but my parents had the same argument about my name, but I ended up not being named after anybody as far as I know. However, when my younger brother was born, the subject came up again and he was designated the "Jr."
Lucky for me, LOL.

My son was named after his father, but we didn't want anyone calling him Junior, so we gave him a different middle name.

My middle name is a part of my paternal grandmother, Zoella.
I would love to name a child Zoella.

I was named after my grandmothers, Victoria for my dad's mom, and Elizabeth for my mom's mom. And as stated by Mandi she was named for a child I saw in an old British movie I saw when I was young.

My Mom loves horses and named me after a horse book called Shannon. I came across my oldest son's name in a book and liked it (Chase). I found his middle name (Brannon) by flipping through a name book at Walmart. My middle son was going to be named something completly different (Julian) but when I first saw him, I knew that wasn't going to be his name. My Mom helped me name him Seth (after Seth Green lol) and his middle name is Emerson, it just seemed to fit. My youngest son, I'm not really sure. I came across the name Cole somewhere and just knew that was it. It was the same with his middle name, Everett.

That's my daughter, Shannon W so you already know that I named her from a book about a horse named Shannon. Good book too! And my name, Teresa, I asked my mom and she said she just liked the name and that I wasn't named after anyone. She said dad picked my brothers name, Kenneth, after he got the idea and liked the name from a salesman by that name.

I was named after my father. His first name comes from one of his father's brothers and his original middle name 'Russell' was supposed to be after another of his father's brothers, but when the nurse brought the birth certificate in, the middle name had changed a name that starts with the letter 'C'. We both hate that name so much, and don't even know where it came from, both of us refuse to use the whole name and just go by the initial.

My dad wanted to name me Tillie Ann, thank God I escaped that.
Mom named me Sharon Lee because there were very few with that name.

My first day of first grade, my teacher had to give all but one of the 6 Sharon's in the class nick names. I was Sharalee.
My paternal grandmother called me that till she died in 1972.

My name was actually given to me by my adopted mother when I was 8 years old. She called me Martha Christine because Martha means little helper and Christine means a gift from God. My name prior to that was Charlene Delores, which she felt sounded too much like a gypsy. To this day, my natural siblings still call me Sherry, a short form of Charlene.

I do not know where my Mom and Dad came up with my name.I was the 6th child.So thet were pretty tired by then.or they drunk. no thats right they didn't drink. But Any way thy came up with DeLoris Eileen

I don't think there is a story or a reason for my first name (my mom didn't even like it, my dad named me) but my middle name is for my maternal grandmother. My daughter is named after my best friend and me and my son is named after my husband and his deceased uncle.

Leah = a name my parents liked

Mary = maternal grandmother's first name (did they know when they named me that that they'd just named me after my future husband's third wife?)

Allan = Dad's last name

Christensen = Mom's maiden name which I took because I wanted someting Danish. Allan was moved to a middle name.

We don't plan on having kids together.

My daughter's name is Sarah. We liked the name and it seemed appropriate because we had wanted a child for almost five years. Sarah in the Bible was very old, but had a child. Sarah's middle name is Louise, after a dear friend.

I was named after a soap opera character. My daughter was named after a little girl in the kindergarten class I worked with in high school and has my mother's middle name.

I was named after a friend of the family. My daughter is named after different things
the LILY is after her grandma and my favorite flower, Faye is after my mom and after the fairy (fey) folk. She is my little flower fairy! Also she has a special connection with the people she is named after, and i truly think she brightens eveyone's life she touches!

No story behind my name, but my son's name is Blake Edward.

Edward was a close, life long family friend of my husbands. When my husband was 11 years old his familys house burned down in the freezing rain. It was night time and everyone was in their PJ's. Edward literally took the coat and shirt off his back to put it around my husband and his brother to help shield them from the weather. He then helped put the fire out. The house was a total loss. My husband has never forgotten that and wanted to give our son Edwards name in honor of him.
