I had a doctor's appointment which comes around every three months whether or not I want it to so the doctor can check on how my diabetes is getting along. Afterwards I usually try to work in what ever I can since I don't travel all that much because of the price of gas and not having a lot of money for such.
After the doctor's appointment I met with my daughter for lunch. That is what we usually do when I'm down for my doctor's visits, met for lunch and get to talk about what has happened over the last three months. She catches me up on what my granddaughter and grandson have been up to during our visits.
I was only a few miles from the Georgia Botanical Gardens so after lunch I headed over there to take a few photos. It being a Thursday the welcome center was open so I could visit with the beautiful Orchids and other tropical plants in the building. I ended the afternoon with taking just over 1800 photos.
I spent most of my time with the Orchids and other tropical plants, because the heat outside was rather unbearable. I took lots of photos of the Orchids and the Peace Lilies and some of the small water way that is within the building and tropical plant area.
Once I stepped outside the heat was like a wall. I, needless to say, lost quite a bit of moisture in a very short time of being out side in the heat of the afternoon. With camera and tripod in hand I braved the heat to take as many photos as I could before I had to head back home.
I took photos of the Cone Flowers and what ever else was growing and blooming outside in the heat of the late spring day. Walking up the path to the gazebo I see a bright patch of flowers growing. I now know them to be Marigolds but didn't know their names at the time beautiful reds with yellows and of course the green of the leaves. I was in heaven, a hot heaven none the less, taking photos of flowers.
I was not expecting a bonus to appear but they did. Several butterflies started landing on the flowers so of course I couldn't resist the temptation of taking a few portraits of them while they enjoyed themselves. What I have included with this article are but six of over three hundred photos of the butterflies but they are the best of all the shots I took.

I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I did in taking them. I will post from time to time other photos from my trip as I have already done with several

photos so far. Copyright J.R. Terrell 2008
