I wanted to sound all dramatic,
like I had some kind of major,
really, big stuff worth stopping
everything you are doing to
listen to.
I pitched my voice just right.
I practiced every syllable until
each one fell like a jewel from
my lips, sparkling with wisdom
and with grace.
I'd only forgotten one very--
and I reiterate very, very--
important thing. (Actually the
most important thing of all.)
There's no point
in talking eloquently--
making everybody wait
and listen with bated breath--
No point at all. Unless you have
something to say.
