Our Garage Sale

We are having a garage sale this weekend. It is hard work!

We started bringing stuff out last night, so we would be ready right away this morning. I'm glad we started then, otherwise we would have been hauling stuff out all day! Plus someone came buy & bought my husbands trailer that he was selling for $100, so that was a great way to start off the sale!

We havd pretty good results today. A lot of the big items went, a bed, 2 small t.v.'s, 2 DVD players, some CD players, etc. A lot of the small stuff is still there....unfortunatly. So we are going to have the sale again tomorrow, even though I know that Sunday's are a bad day for garage sales.

If we are unable to see most of the stuff, we have a local radio station that does a General Store thing every day of the week, and we can call & list some of the bigger, or more expensive items on there. Of course some will go to the Goodwill. I have some books that I will list on paperbackswap.com and get credits for them if they don't sell.

We are also trying to sell all of our VHS tapes, trying to get rid of them all & just have DVD's now.

So far we have made about $500 dollars! That makes me happy! I'm not sure what we are going to use the money for. We are kind of thinking about getting a cattle guard/bumper guard thing for our Ford F150.

Things will be discounted tomorrow, on most items!

In the morning, I have to drive 2 hours to Dallas & pick up my daughter's friend that is flying down from Minnesota to spend a week with us. Hubby will manage the sale until I get back.

Now I have GOT to go to bed! Goodnight~

$500 is a great sale! I need to have one, I have been "sending" things to the storage room in the basement for over a year...for a garage sale. I just hate the work involved to get ready, and it has rained so much here that I think I'll wait and have one in the fall.

Well done! My brother and his wife always do a good job with yard sales, and she sometimes sells her own homemade soap and other crafts. I always get good ideas with things like that, but I probably just don't have enough of the entrepreneurial acumen at the moment. I'd have to leave that part to someone else. Thanks for posting this!

Gad the fist day went well. I hope you get rid of most of the stuff today. I always hate when you have o haul everything back inside. I have come to the point that I usually just donate everything now and take the tax deduction.

Garage sales are a whole lot of work..but worth it when you can get $500 out of it and get rid of the clutter at the same time.. WTG. Hope you use the money for something good :O)

Well done - put the extra money in the bank! Last night I emptied 200 lbs of wet sand from my pool filter and replaced it with clean - then put the whole filter back together again. Today the thunder and lightning is so bad I'm glad to be inside at work. Yard sailing would have been fun!

Wow, $500...that is good! I have to find my get up and go and get it in gear for a yard sale too. I have a ton of stuff and no place for it anymore......I'm just having a little trouble getting motivated as I am feeling a little overwhelmed lately.

I always had my garage sales on first monday, the same day as the one at Canton. A lot of traffic looking for bargins. What kind of books do you read Priscilla. Donald likes to read I do not. Do you have a VCR that tapes? Mine broke and eats the tapes now.

That a great yard sale. If you don't want to take your items to Goodwill. If you have an local auction house, they might buy your items from you. Most of the auctions houses around here will buy by the truck load, & give you a flat rate for all your items.
