What are you doing for the July 4th holiday?

I will be staying home and going out in my yard where we can see some of the fireworks from a nearby football stadium. We have gone to some of the fireworks shows in the past, but living in the city, finding parking is really hard and then you have to walk forever to get to where the activites are. Everything is really crowded and hot and you never know if we will get a monsoon storm that night. Then, after the show, getting back to the car and trying to drive away takes hours.

Now that we are older we like to stay home on the 4th, see what we can from our yard and watch fireworks displays on tv.  

How are you celebrating the holiday weekend? Are you traveling or staying close to home? Seeing fireworks or staying inside where it is cool?

Fireworks displays are canceled in our area due to high fire danger. We've had three big wildfires with evacuations in the last two weeks. Cal fire crews are hanging out a few miles away waiting for the next one. I'll BBQ at home and prep my gear for my band's show on the 5th in Aptos Ca.

DooDah Parade in the afternoon. Unknown Hinson concert at 9 PM. Both events are about 10-15 minutes from our home.

My dad's family has a big family reunion on the 4th every year. It's a 5+ hour drive for us, but we're taking the whole week off and going anyway. It'll be our vacation for the summer.

Well, we usually stay in Payson to watch the fireworks and enjoy the concert under the stars but this year we are going to Globe to visit my husbands brothers and we'll watch from their house. It will be nice to get out of the crowds this year but I'll miss the festivities at Green Valley Park too.
