I'm a big, BIG football fan
I like to watch football
Several years ago, my team wasn't quite getting the job done
so, the owner fired the head coach
no debate, no see you for dinner later
he fired him. end of story.
Now, he went out and searched for someone who shared his beliefs about THE winning team
he wanted to put together.
It should come as no surprise that he hired the man.
together they searched and got the best and the brightest.
no offense, but if a person was a "C" student of football they didn't hire him
and the people who only had their jobs with the team because of nepotism, they got rid of them.
now are team is doing very well.
Our team (THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) is looking for a new head coach
should we see if there are any more "C" students out there who got where they are in life from nepotism?
Or should we seek out a winner, who plays well with others?
See you in November...
:)

good to hear from you John
good post Melissa
points to ponder
I love Tampa Bob!
what's up, my elusive brother?
How's life at the trib?
With sports it's Us vs. Them. Team color against team color. Stand by your team no matter what. (If the star player gets arrested, hey, he's misunderstood.)
The object in sports is to win no matter what. We fool ourselves into thinking fair play ever existed. Sports doesn't allow us to come together and unite forces or work out compromises.
Now more than ever, we need to find common goals and ideals and share the playground nicely. No more dodgeball, smear the queer, or double dog dares.
?
If that's the case then we as americans would be better off if we were all ignorant?
I don't understand how a vocabulary or a command of the english language can cause the mess that we are in now.
I do however understand that my mother used to say, "it's best left up to the experts"
in other words, she'd say that right before my dad would cripple the car, the plumbing, the electricity, the tree trimming.
I don't know about anyone else, but for my money, (and it is my money-tax dollars pay their salary)
I want an expert.
not a "C" student whose dad had to pay to get him accepted into college.
what I am saying with this analogy is....
don't take your car to bubba's garage
right after he's done crystal meth!
Good Job on it.
Blessings ~

Just checking my email and saw yours so thought I'd come check it out to let you know I was here.
Didn't he just tell the move on people, no 527's
you are right.
You need to be educated true,
but yoou also have to have connections, sadly in this life
to get someplaces.
But it is equally true, that if you have to have that kind of help to get there
is it really worth the trip?
I'm not sure how old you are, Fred or where you grew up. But when I graduated high school in 1970, there were lots of kids who did horribly in college but ended up being company execs. If you read about many famous people you'll find that they didn't do well in school.
People say that Bush has a low IQ, but that's doubtful. He does have an MBA from Harvard. He did go to Yale. A C student there is probably the equivalent to an A student at some lessor schools. :-)
I was doing some research about Bush and former Presidents, because of a stupid forward someone sent to me about Bush having a lower than average IQ. There is no evidence of that.
But we do know that intellecual "brilliance" is not enough to have a successful run in the White House. Nixon, for instance had an IQ of 143; Carter graduated in the top 10% of his class at the Naval Academy; and Clinton was a Rhodes scholar. Yet theirs were flawed presidencies.
On the other hand, Truman was a high school graduate. He worked as a farmer, a railroad worker, a bookkeeper, road inspector and postmaster. Ronald Reagan was
a B-list actor with average to poor college credentials. Truman and Reagan achieved more politicall success than Nixon, Carter and Clinter who were supposedly smarter.

(failed at getting into college, daddy had to buy his way in. failed at his oil venture, saudis had to buy him out, baseball team-texas rangers)
no, the "C" student remark on my part is a hallmark to remind us that he is a goober-plain and simple-goober
complete with that stupid smile and that disturbing laugh he brings out at the most inopportune times.
It's just said, that people miss the point
it's not about whose ideals are better
who goes to church more often
who votes for who
it's got to be about who's best for the country.
look around you
can you honestly say you are better off now, than you were eight years ago?
$600 tax incentive check not withstanding
good posts Marilyn
good posts, all of them
"we find comfort with those who agree with us,
and growth with those who don't"
By extension, perhaps we shouldn't hire another manager who will just be "more of the same"...?
Many people get great grades in the system, and perform poorly in real life, and conversly, many perform poorly, within the school system, and perform fanastically when they get out into real life.
would you want the board certified doctor
who finished top 10%
or joe's bar and grill animal doctor?
Come on! we're not talking him being a good guy
we're not talking about the Christian ethic of loving everybody
I LOVE everybody, but I wouldn't want a schmuck operating on myh back who wasn't that smart!
By the same logic, I don't want DUBYA part II "The wrath of MOM" running our country.
He does one thing, and he does it very well.
WAR
What is good for? Absolutely nothin
