so, what's happening in our world? lillie's been so very active, of course! she is *always* learning, and always so happy. i feel very lucky to have this girl in our lives. she is pure joy to me. right now, she's swimming with the neighbor kid (a weekender) and i can hear them splashing around. sometimes they catch fish humanely, by putting worms or bread scraps inside their butterfly nets and lowering them into the water, then bringing them up when a fish swims in. they catch the biggest buckets of tiny fish, and think they can name them all for the day! what a hoot. we are homeschooling her, so each day is so much fun, filled with learning wherever we are. we've been building fairy houses from nature finds from our bike/wheelchair rides, and making all sorts of nature crafts. we rake the (underwater) beach and find all sorts of gorgeous small rocks, perfect for rock studies and then creating art.

my darn knee is still not healing so well, so it is difficult to get around. it has been 5 months since i tore the ligaments in my *good* knee, and i am having to depend on my disabled (and painful) ankle in my bad leg to get around more. bleah. not the best...
we've been enjoying the fruits of michigan summer - fresh strawberries, peas, asparagus. soon blueberry season will be upon us and we'll drive to saugatuck and load up with 50# of berries. FOR REAL. ed and lillie can eat 5# on the way home. crazy!

ed and i started a new travel website, and it is a blast to work on. so much fun - yahoo for us!
despite strange weather, we've been swimming when it is warm, up to 3-4x a day. lovely us! we named our buoys this year tokyo and bangkok. last year, it was london, paris, and rome. gotta put in those geography lessons. mostly, it ends up being food talk, as we swim between the buoys and decide what we're going to eat in each city...lillie and i always come in hungry! not surprised??
we're having such a lovely summer, it is just glorious. every night we fall into bed just exhausted, full of a day of fun and learning and play and good food. life is great! what's going on in your world??

I got myself a poodle puppy and we are having such fun with her. My plan is to get more active and she is certainly helping there!
Best of luck on your Website. It looks fabulous. I paid a short visit there before commenting here. I will go back to check it out again.
I will send good thoughts for your knee. Keep having fun!
mary! yahoo! wow - graduated from COLLEGE! that is great news. i am laughing at your new exercise regime. ;) thanks for the comments on the site!
that's a great website, and lovely photos with this story. sounds as though you, Lillie, and Ed are working on having a great time despite the recuperation for you. good to hear that.
Sorry to hear about your knee - please fill me in on how you tore the ligaments. Recovery can be a BIT%# when you are not all that strong to begin with.
I love your travel site, it is fabulous looking. My newsy news: my darling daughter Alyssa is expecting my first (and probably only) grandchild in November. Exciting!
I hope you heal fast and soon. I bet that swimming helps. Take care!
As for the leg...for goodness sakes, let it heal.
Now I'll take a peek at the website.
I think a lot of us are doing achy bone-joints things. I just went out and got black cherry juice and black cherries as well - whatever their magic is, it's natural and it works for me.
Doing some more hip healing combined with posture & foot position shifts - so I'm going to get some ambrotose etc to help that process along. I toy with the idea of growing masses of aloe plants and just nibbling off a little each day. I know that would be good for what-ails-one, and I've tasted it in bits like that before - tastes ok.
Just did a puppet show downtown in the village this afternoon: "LIBRARY LOU LOU" - Music Al and his new friend Spinner (the top, with eyes painted on) talk me into taking them to the library. "But Al," I say, "You've already got 50 zillion story books at home."
Al says, "Yeah, but you've read them to me 50 zillion times over."
I say, "But you asked me to......."
Al: "I know - but now I'm bored. I need to go to the library and find a new story."
So we go find Spinner, who's so excited he whirls and whirls and nearly gets sick.....
When we get to the library, the book we pick has - OH NO!!!!! OH DEAR!!!!! - big holes in it. That's because of Lou Lou the bookapillar.
In the end Al talks me into buying the book so Lou Lou can finish it when we take her home.....That way she won't get discovered by the librarians and thrown out.
When she's home with us, Spinner will help her spin her coccoon so she can change from bookapillar into bookerfly.
It all works out.
Tell lillie that Music Al confessed to the audience that he sleeps in a wet bed, and he likes it that way. His bed is in the swamp.
Think I'll go join Lou Lou - that book looks so munchy and crunchy -
faith!! awesome! yahoo!! :)
carolion, i love lou lou. i want to eat books, too.
No travel plans for me this summer, except in my head and with my pen.
