I have to admit. I do love to photograph birds of prey, except for one thing: The BARS. Those bars are a photographer's arch enemy! Just the same I tried to photograph them and I was astnished at the results. The bars were present, but they were not all that distracting. Typically the camera would focus on the bars rather than the BIRDS. Not this time. :)
The first bird we saw was the regal Bald Eagle. They are beautiful birds, aren't they?

The bars still do ruin the shot, but at least they aren't in focus.

The next bird was the Great Horned Owl. Didn't get a great shot of him, though.

The we saw the Peregrine Falcon. He's a cool guy, isn't he?

He was keeping a close eye on me, that's for sure.

Next we saw the Red-Tailed Hawk. These shots aren't the best either, sadly.

He was mostly preoccupied with his feather upkeep.

Then we saw the Rough-legged Hawk. I liked this fella quite a bit.

I love his feather patterns.

Then we saw the Screech Owls. They were cute, but so far back that it was hard to get decent shots of them.

The way this one was looking at me cracked me up. That wink and peering around the corner thing.

All photos taken on June 1, 2008 with my Canon Powershot A560. No editing done (aside from making them low-res, and marring them with my copyright) and slight cropping was used to remove distracting bars.
