For years it has been a location that I wanted to go to. I almost have a few times! Something always blocked my going. I heard about the hauntings long ago and tried to get my group in the traveling mode!
Last year I tried to get my 2 friends who are in their 60's!!! and who I drag to all these kinds of places....to go. My one friend's response.....does it always have to be forts! Well I like forts! Forts are cool, for the history & for the extra activities. I rather walk around a fort than a mall!
I also attempted to get former group members last summer to go, and they wanted to...just not enough money or time...we sat at the table while I presented a plan. (They are going to a fort but not this one!- they are going on a over 200 dollar - a person- ghost hunt with TAPS at Fort Mifflin- this weekend..I wish I was going...but I would never spend that much money..I don't care who's leading the teams!)
I often joked with Matt about getting to this place before TAPS did...I am too late! I went on the Fort's site on Monday since I am passing it on the way down to see my daughter...Then I saw it....the notice for tonite's episode. Plus now they are having increased ghost tours at the fort.( good thing)...except it is always the day before or after I will be passing there!
Our group was talking about how after TAPS gets to these places the ghost tours start! What we can't understand is....why do they have to charge the serious ghost hunters....now I am not talking about the average ghost tour..that is understandable..But I am talking about it being alot of money to come in at night and do this. Take Eastern State Penn, we called and they said it was a hundred dollars a person..what!! I will just go on the day self tour for 12 bucks! I can get the same photgraphic images.
Fort Mifflin, the same thing....50 dollars a peron, for the overnight..but the day one...6 dollars.
Now I do understand that alot of these former forts/establishments do not get compensation from the govt for upkeep and rely on private donations....but really!
Well one day I will get here...but I guess it will not be this summer!

I understand about the insurance, but as for equipment...we bring our own, so that is not the case. Electric is shut off, so that is not an issue. Paranormal Investigators 99 percent of the time use their own money, no sponsors, no companies backing them.
Wow, Trista, Waverly is up to a hundred a person...I think a little over a year ago..it was 25!! I remember us going on the site and wishing there was prices like that near us. We even considered taking the trip!
i just stumbled upon this site
we went to Pea Patch Isl today (ft Del), not knowing it was ghst hunters show from last week. My hb dvr's the show weekly, so of course i checked it out. I myself beleive i the paranorm, and took 3 cameras (2 were vids) i was pissed b.c my kids couldnt cook in the kitched were there is supposedly the one ghost who tells kids "thats not nice" and the one who dusts the mantle thats gone" b/c you hAVe to be 12 yrs old, but u cAN Roam the place and tape and picture whatever so i got loads of the kitchen, the bedroom, the tunnels, soooooo many hidden stairways, MAN are they scairy and steep!
my daughter lost her glasses somewhere in there, i told her a ghosty probly got them
i am proud b.c my kids are 5 & 7 and have no fear, my daugher doesnt believe, my son said he saw something in the tunnels. I had creepy chills 3 times, once in the front lawn talking to some old civil war man in dress with a white coat which he didnt look to belong and strangly we started to talk abt ghost and in the tunnel when we saw 3 civil war men asking aBOUT MY daughters lost red bifocals, i am forgetting the third.
