Grandpa Joe had eighteen cats,
kept in a dark never ending
cavernous place he called the barn.
These feline fiends ran like race horses
when approached.
These hidden vicious vermin killers,
controlled the rat and mice count,
feral and frightfully unsociable.
Fed only once or twice a week,
these many colored creepy monsters
earned their living by stealth and speed.
The huge barn an underworld
of mystery, shadows, cobwebs,
just meant for hide and seek games.
It was an easy place to get lost in,
like a puzzle to explore,
sometimes a very scary place,
always fun to visit,
unless banished there for a minor infraction.
