I hope everyone had a great Father's Day yesterday.. ! I had a very hectic and productive day.. You know how some days nothing goes right and you can't catch a break, and then other days it just seems like everything falls into place.. yesterday was one of the good ones for me!
I started off by going and getting my shopping done.. and while I was in the store, i decided to pick up one of those ATT "Pay as You Go" cell phones. I don't have a regular cell phone since I moved out to the back of beyond and I can't get a signal out here. But since I'm going on my vacation in July, I wanted to have a phone to bring with me so I'll be able to contact people while I'm running around and keep in touch. I didn't want to spend a bunch of cash, so I got the cheapest one they had.. it's a pretty basic phone Motorola C168i for 15.00, and I bought a 25.00 card. Because I got the 25.00 card, I'll get an extra 10.00 from ATT. You get free mobile to mobile with it. and since most of my family and my sweetie all have ATT, that means I'll be able to talk to them all free. They do charge you 1.00 a day access fee on days you use the phone, but you can talk all day for that 1.00 mobile to mobile. For some people, it's not practical to go prepaid for a cell phone. but for the little bit I use one, this is well worth it to me. But the good news .. and the part that made me really happy.. is that this little no-frills, 15.00 phone actually gets a signal at my house! It's not a great signal, and it sometimes takes a while to get a call to go through, but I have a phone I can actually use, and I don't have to pay 80.00 a month for a regular contract phone. YAY!
Then, I went to my sister's house for the Father's Day/Birthday get-together. It stormed pretty bad most of the day and that really sucked. I worried most of the day about the puppies, because Daisy is petrified of lightning and will crawl up under my chair and hide every time it storms. I don't think she's ever been left at home alone before during a huge storm. I called my roomie and asked him to keep an eye on her in case she's freaking out, so then I felt better. I was hoping to be able to hang out in the pool and stuff.. but even though we couldn't do that, we had a great visit. My family is a lof of fun, and we were making plans to get my two brothers who still live in Mass to come down in January for my parents' 50th anniversary. I hope they come! I know John will, but not so sure about Brian. We'll have to see. My sister cooked a little bit of everything on the grill.. hamburgs, hotdogs, and BBQ chicken. and some really yummy brats! There was so much food! Then we did the cake and ice cream thing and they opened all their stuff.. and then my brother and I went to a movie.
We did end up going to see "Don't Mess With the Zohan".. which kinda sucked. Parts of it were hilarious..and I generally love Adam Sandler.. but it just seemed kinda sloppy and thrown together ..and i had trouble finding much of a plot. I was glad I didn't pay cash to see it LOL But.. I do have to say that Adam Sandler is looking pretty hot in this movie. He doesn't usually do much for me.. he's not a bad looking guy and he cracks me up, but he's not what I think of when I think of sexy.. For this movie, he looks like he worked out, and he is tanned and naked or close to it through much of the movie..complete with butt shots...though I doubt that was really his butt. LOL Whoever's it was .. yeehaw!! He has long curly hair, and looks pretty good in the beard too. He walks around with a huge bulge and has a thing for big women. There's one part where he goes to work in a salon and he's having sex with all the women customers.. the lines start forming around the block with all these older ladies and stuff, all waiting their turn .. that part was pretty funny! LOL In general though, the movie was kinda stupid.. stupider than the usual Adam Sandler stupid. I was okay with that, because it's pretty much what I expected.
So, then I had talked to my brother about an MP3 player he had that he was getting rid of. He accidentally bought two on Ebay.. and he gave me one. It's not an IPOD or anything fancy.. it's called an Inisignia, and has 4 gig memory and an SD card slot to expand the memory. It works great! I'm really happy about it, because now I'll have something to use on my trip without having to bring my Zire 72 with me. Though I may bring that too, since it has games on it. The good thing about it is that it comes with the Audible.com audio book player thingie already installed, so now i have something to listen to all of these audiobooks that I have. YAY!
I copied this from the Best Buy website.. the Insignia is their brand of MP3 player, I think.
