Daily Whine & Shine - June 16, 2008
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffer from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our constant struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
So, are you ready to rant about something? This is the place to tell all.
It's also the place to tell all about the happy events in your life.
What's happening in your world today? Are you grumpy about something? Or so angry that you could spit? Tell it here. Here at the Daily Whine & Shine, it's acceptable to rant, vent, complain, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum and shout, "Oh shuckie darn!"
Wait! Don't go away. Do you have some good news to share? Great. This is the place for that as well. If you're celebrating, dancing, and yelling, "Yippee skippy!" please share. Sometimes knowing about someone else's happiness gives us a bit of hope for ourselves.
Whether you're shouting, "Oh shuckie darn!" or yelling, "Yippee skippy!" - this is the place to be.
Let's celebrate!!!
Today is National Hollerin' Contest Day and Fudge Day
This week is Meet a Mate Week, so if you're single and looking, this is your week.
June 17 is Fresh Veggies Day
June 18 is International Panic Day and Go Fishing Day
June 19 is World Sauntering Day and Recess at Work Day (tell your boss!)
June 20 is Ice Cream Soda Day
June 21 is Cuckoo Warning Day (if you hear a cuckoo today, you'll know it's going to be a rainy summer) and Baby Boomer's Recognition Day (what are you young'ns going to do to recognize us???). It's also Vinegar Day. (And no, that doesn't mean that Baby Boomers are sourpusses.) It's also Skateboarding Day. (Think Baby Boomers should be doing that???)

June 23 is National Pink Day, Take Your Dog to Work Day, and Let It Go Day
Food for thought:
We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action. ~ Frank Tibolt
An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied. ~ Arnold Glasow
Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold - but so does a hard-boiled egg. ~ Author Unknown

Contemplation often makes life miserable. We should act more, think less, and stop watching ourselves live. ~ Nicolas de Chamfort
If your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt. ~ Henry J. Kaiser
Action is the antidote to despair. ~ Joan Baez
The great composer does not set to work because he is inspired, but becomes inspired because he is working. Beethoven, Wagner, Bach and Mozart settled down day after day to the job in hand with as much regularity as an accountant settles down each day to his figures. They didn't waste time waiting for inspiration. ~ Ernest Newman
We are all inclined to judge ourselves by our ideals; others, by their acts. ~ Harold Nicolson
Don't find fault. Find a remedy. ~ Henry Ford
Success will never be a big step in the future, success is a small step taken just now. ~ Jonatan Mårtensson
Action will remove the doubts that theory cannot solve. ~ Tehyi Hsieh
As I grow older I pay less attention to what men say. I just watch what they do. ~ Andrew Carnegie

People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do. ~ Lewis Cass
We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once. ~Calvin Coolidge
By the way...
Did you know that June is Rebuild Your Life month? If you've been thinking of going back to school or thinking about starting a project that would help your life, this is the month to start!
June is also Lane Courtesy Month. Please stay in your lane this month. (I think they started this because of Cincinnatians. They don't stay in their lanes!!! Maybe if they practiced for the month of June it would become a habit???)

I started rebuilding my life in January.....hmm, major health issues tend to do that don't they? LOL!
I really don't have any complaints other than the bum knee and the "arthuritis" in my neck. That's what my mom calls it. LOL Hope all of you have a safe and happy day.
Thanks!
shine: After the tractor is delivered, I'm going to a used book sale.
