Wanna Be A Karaoke Star?

 Do you like to sing?  Do you love karaoke, but you're too chicken to get up in front of other people and sing.. or you just never get a chance to go because you have kids or work too many hours.. and bars are too expensive.. well, there is a way for you to be able to bring out your inner rock star and still be home with the kids..and it's free.  The best part is, you can do it from home and nobody can see you, so you don't have to stand up on stage in front of people.  I love to sing..and I do it all the time.. but I really hate standing up in front of people to do it.  I can't get up and sing alone, and have to make my sister get up with me.  LOL   So, when I found Singsnap  and realized I could sing and record songs from the comfort of my own home, and noone could see me...I was in hog heaven!   I've been on the site for quite a while now, even though I haven't spent a lot of time on there lately because of work and being on other sites, like Gather.   I somehow screwed up something with my computer, and I haven't been able to record anything for a while..::sigh:: So, I've been in withdrawals..but I will eventually figure it out and get back to recording. 

The site has tons and tons of songs, and you can find something to sing no matter what your musical style.  They used to have more songs, and they had to take a whole bunch of stuff off the site due to some copyright issues, but there's still plenty.  They just added 500 songs, but those are only available for the Gold members ..the ones who pay.  That is one thing that sucks.. they used to be completely free for everything, and they recently started offering a Gold membership.  Gold members get a few extra things the free members don't get, and if you love to sing it's really worth it for the 7.95 a month they charge, but you can have just as much fun as a  free member.  I haven't upgraded yet, but I will. 

One great thing about the site is that, whether you have a voice that makes angels weep.. or you sound like someone strangling a cat.. it really doesn't matter.  People on the site are so nice and supportive, and they will lie to you and tell you how wonderful you sound, even if you sound like crap!!  It's awesome!  LOL    I, for instance, can carry a tune, but I'm no Mariah Carey.. or whoever in your world equates to a great singer...and it's okay.  They come and tell me I sound great, and it makes me feel good.  Everyone needs a little ego boost here and there.  I will sometimes be flat, a little off key, and I sometimes don't quite hit the note I'm aiming for.. but it doesn't matter, because I'm really enjoying myself, and that's all that counts.

You don't need any special equipment... just a pair of headphones with a mic on it, and you're in business.  A lot of people get so into it that they buy professional microphones and mixers and stuff.. but you don't need all of that.  You can record just music,or if you have a webcam, you can record yourself singing and make a video..whichever you're more comfy with.
