Dear Janet:
Thank you for all the your efforts on S. 3101! We wanted to give you a brief update on what happened, and where we go from here. Yesterday (Thursday, June 12) the Senate voted on S. 3101, the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008, but failed to gather the 60 votes needed for passage. See how your senators voted on this bill here (a "yea" vote was in support of the AMA's Patients Action Network position). The PAN encourages the Senate to negotiate a bipartisan bill, with the intent to pass legislation in time to prevent the July 1 Medicare physician payment cuts from going into effect. The issue is still very much alive, and before the end of the month we'll be calling on you to complete "step 3": "When the bill itself is up for a vote, we will need one final phone call to both Senator Specter and Senator Casey asking them to vote YES..."
They Both heard from me.
Pityful
