For many, many years I was skeptical of the validity of prophecy. To me, so much of what is claimed to be prophetic insight into the future was stated so by being matched to the supposed future event later through pure fiction composed by rational stretch of the imagination. They were really interpretations of statements that could be envisioned as pertaining to some particular event or action that took place many years later... but equally applicable to many other events or actions at other times and places. This, I think, still applies to much if not all of what is attributed to Nostradamus. However, since then I have learned much more as I aged and experienced the real world. Much of what is contained in Revelations of the Old Testament is of this kind and was also stated as such in Revelations with the caveat that it would not be understood until the time was ready. Still, people continue, especially now, to make all kinds of statements based on Revelations.
However, I was astounded when I came across two of the most specific, unarguably accurate prophetic statements in the history of human literature. It was so alarmingly accurate and specifically applicable that I even did some research to make sure that these statements were not translated from the original Persian (Farsi) or Arabic after the predicted events in such a way as to make the predictions "fit the shoe." These two come from statements made by Baha'u'llah, Founder/prophet of the Baha'i Faith and His son, Abdu'l-Baha, His son and appointed successor. The first of these, by Baha'u'llah (obviusly prior to His passing in 1892) is as follows:
"A strange and wonderful instrument exists in the earth; but it is concealed from the minds of souls. It is an instrument which has the power to change the atmosphere of the whole earth and its infection causes destruction."
I have seen this translated into English as published in 1911 exactly as quoted above. That was two years before Einstein came out with his Theory of Relativity. So think about it. Here he says that this "instrument exists in the earth." That is to say, it is something that is natural and comes from the earth, such as plutonium. Secondly, He says that it has "the power to change the atmosphere of the whole earth and its infection causes destruction." Specifically therefore, He describes it as a "power" and that it can contaminate "the atmosphere of the whole earth." Then He goes on to say that it's "infection causes destruction." What can be more destructive than the A-bomb?
The second prophetic statement is even more amazing, that by His son, Abbu'l-Baha. It is as follows:
"Scientific discoveries have increased material civilization. There is in existence a stupendous force, as yet happily undiscovered by man. Let us supplicate God, the Beloved, that this force be not discovered by science until spiritual civilization shall dominate the human mind. In the hands of men of lower nature, this power would be able to destroy the whole earth."
So think of this one. Here he specifically states that what he is talking about is a "stupendous force", that it currently exists latent in the earth but is undiscovered at that time. Then he goes on to state that it will be discovered by "science", not some prospector or explorer. This clearly means that it is a force that has to be manipulated through scientific means to make it effective. Lastly, he says that it has the power to "destroy the whole earth." Now isn't that something?
But an even more amazing thing about this statement by Abdu'l-Baha is to whom it was made. He was in Paris in 1912 at the Hotel d'Jena. He was speaking to Japan's ambassador to Spain, Viscount Minoji Arakawa. Viscount Minoji Arakawa was from Nagasaki, Japan.
