Ichygo came to us as a stray cat about 6 months ago.He came both neutered and declawed, so he had to belong to someone.
We walked out naighborhood asking, no one claimed him, nor said that they knew who he belonged to.
He made himself home at our house right away, like he had always lived there. We had lived there 11 months when he came along.
The problem was that 6 months prior, that nasty landlord that we had suddenly turned on us and forced us to get rid of the cat that we had. He came in first trying to get me on breech of lease, when we had been paying him extra each month to have the cat....then he changed it and gave me 2 weeks to have our cat, Pierce, neutered and declawed, which he knew very well that I couldn't afford. We had no choice to get rid of him.
Then, along comes Ichygo.....very insistant that every time the door opened, he was coming in. I had no choice because of the landlord but to throw him right back outside. We weren't even feeding him and he insisted he was ours. This went on for months. Imagine how Ifelt with him meowing outside in the snow and ice and I just couldn't let him in for fearof the landlord.
A few months past and every time the landlord came over, the cat would run in the door....each time me explaining that he's not ours, we aren't feeding him etc. In February, the landlord came over with a pet agreement. There was a little argument with him on paying as I'd already paid his extra fee for 7 months without having a pet. He calmed down and agreed.
Now.....the rest of the story is that not even 2 weeks after, the landlord evicted us. This time he said in breech of the lease for excessive company. My daughter and her 4 children were over to my house too often he said and my grandchildren were tearing up the house...he didn't rent to them.
So fine! We moved in to my mom's basement, but she would not allow us to bring Ichygo with us. She had spent too much money the year before getting rid of fleas, and then giving away her pets. She didn't want fleas again. My daughters boyfriend agreed to keep Ichygo. I was pretty lost...in that 2 weeks that the landlord had agreed and we allowed him in to the house, I got real accustomed to him being with me.
Mom caved after a little over a week and we brought him home. Once again, Ichygo acted like he had lived here all his life. I see him as a very unique cat.
Every night Ichygo and I have a bedtime routine. He jumps up and lays on my chest and I pet him while I read my book. When I am done reading, he goes and sleeps at the end of the bed. If I lay down and he's not right there, I get up, open the back door and let him in for the night.
I hope my Ichygo will be with us for a long time. By the way, the girls named him from some anime cartoon character. I'm not in to the anime so I have no clue which show. My mom can't pronounce it and always calls him Ichibob LOL

Angel
What?!! That's ridiculous.
Since when can you not have your family come visit you? Since when is that a crime?
At least you got away from there.
Next time find an apartment where you have a good landlord and a pet friendly complex at that.
I wish you the best. Have a purrfect day!
Ichygo rules!
I agree the ones that adopt us are the best. I came by one black kitty that way, she followed my son home from school one day - took a look around, sighed deeply and plopped herself down like she belonged.
We had her for 21 years.
