The 25th annual Colorado Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp began Monday and will conclude Friday with an awards celebration.
This is the largest camp of its kind in the United States which gives kids with physical disabilities a chance to participate in 12 different sports including; hand cycling, power soccer, hockey and fencing.
Participants between the ages of 6 and 18 have the opportunity during this weeklong camp to enjoy the same experiences that able bodied participants do.
Charleene Quinn began volunteering 25 years ago when her son was one of the first participants. "This gave me a picture for what life could be, it was life changing," said Quinn.
The camp is run completely by volunteers with support from Colorado Sports for the Physically Challenged, Adaptive Adventures and Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Past camps have sent participants onto the Junior Wheelchair Games and further onto the Paralympics.
