"I have my net, Papa, let's go froggin'!" she whispered.
"Instead of froggin' Sage, why don't we go fishin' down the pond."
Sage started singing, "Fishy, Fishy in the pond" as she took Papa's hand and started out the door. I followed with the towel, a pillow to prop my leg up...it's suppose to be elevated, and some sunblock. Once down at the pond, Sage, quite fearless waded into the pond with her blue fishing net.

"Come Tuck, come fishin', fishy, fishy, come to me. Papa, where are they?"
"Sage, we need to go deeper. Look at all these sunfish holes. We can catch a big one here. These fish stay close to these holes where they have laid their eggs. Come with Papa."

"Sage, Sage, we caught one...." Papa cried joyfully.

"Let me see fishy, Papa". As the fish frantically moved around in the net, Sage got more then a peek. Threshing about, the fish had water flying everywhere. Sage started sputtering.

"Show Tuck fishy, Papa. Tuck wants to see fishy."

"I cold, Papa. You fish with Tuck now."

As she got up on the dock, she decided that Tortelini the turtle that Papa had caught the other day for her needed a rock and some moss for a nice soft bed. As she renovated his home she started singing, "There was a little turtle, who lived in a box....".

After making sure Tortelini liked his new home, Sage ran down the length of the dock and plopped down on the towel.

"Sage tired?" I asked.
"Sage tired" she replied.

After a brief few minutes of reflection about the fine art of fishing, Sage was once more up and ready. "Hey, Tuck, you want to catch another fish?"

It is our experience that little girls, like little boys, do not reflect too long. They need action! So into the pond, Sage went singing her songs once more.

You might check out the video "An Afternoon with Papa" that I posted a few days ago to see the beginning of his apprenticeship. Now I need to be off to school...have a ton of things to do there.
Do you write Children's books Bob? If, not I seriously think you should consider adding this to your resume.
Thanks so much for posting this to

Looks like Papa is doing fine in his apprenticeship. Sorry to hear about your leg but at least, you got to stay home and take these pictures!
Wonderful living, yes, Linda!
Even if they don't catch anything, just the act of fishing is fun for little ones, Cindy.
Such a treasure to have both in your life. Loved seeing Sage's expression during the fishin:)
(heyyyy....what is this "sunblock" stuff? ha!)
I love your stories.
Sending a ten your way for triple points week....

Looks like all three generations had a wonderful time.
Tuck loves when Julia and Sage come over the house because finally he has "little people" at his level. He met Justin the other day and found him to be most enjoyable too. He will be in heaven with more little people tomorrow afternoon!
and captured memories to cherrish.
Sage is quite wonderful and unique and name certainly fits.
