asking me not to post junk to a group about fathers.  I didn't even know I was a member, and I don't get easily offended, but if you want my attention and you send me an email of such vital importance that you have to have "GATHER" monitor me, please put my name in the subject heading. 

Can we spell rude?

If you want the name of the group, I'll give it to you in a junky email.  How dare she?

Sometimes we have so many groups that we don't realize that we post to groups were not suppose to. She can politely tell you she is deleting your content from the group without being rude about it.

Meh, try not to let it get to you. Maybe it wasn't intended to come off as rude? Or maybe the person deals with people posting things to a group they shouldn't and she's more bitter than usual? Who knows? Regardless, sorry you had to deal with it at all.

I disconnected immeditately from her important group then wrote another blazing cathartic article about father's day. She really hit a nerve, but now I'm over it. To think Gather is monitoring my posts. Right?

Yeah, seriously.... It's not all that difficult to let you know "hey, you might be posting this to the wrong group" and let it go. If it CONTINUED to be a problem after a warning, she could take care of it.

Or, she could just remove you from the group.....

She probably is tired of others who do that.. Its very annoying to go to a certain group and find stuff their that plainly does NOT belong.. I help mderate a group and the same dumb people post all their crap to this group. its not crap but it has nothing to do with the group name.. maybe she just had enough and you got the end of that..

I'm trying to read it all and write it all. I never got a rude email before, and take pride in the crap I write. She should be so honored I accidently joined her sick-o group for Father's Day. (Hint) Isn't it wonderful she has a wonderful father to honor, now make him proud and go away.

Try to ignore it. I know I post on some groups on accident. I wish there was a grouping groups option. Like a button where you post to all "post anything groups" "post to all your recipe groups" It would be nice to group our groups.

Sorry this happened to you! As a group owner I know how frustrating it is to have to decline or remove off-topic content, but I've never been rude about it. If it becomes a problem, I just remove the member and not once have I had a removed member realize they're not in the group anymore!

It wasn't even a moderated group. I don't know how or when I joined it. Me celebrating father's day 08 or any other year is a joke. Oh my, I slipped with a hint. I hope the Gather Gestapo isn't reading this.

I can see both sides of this issue. As a group owner I always want my groups to stay on-topic. If I don't moderate my group, I try to remove off-topic content as quickly as possible. Unrelated content degrades the group experience for the other members, as well as reduces the attractiveness of my group to prospective members.

Over 90% of all subject-based groups on Gather fail because group owners can't keep up with off-topic content being published to them. Eventually most group owners simply give up and give in, and the group becomes yet another 'post-anything' group.

Striking the right balance in this equation is difficult, but the burden of responsibility really rests with the group member publishing content to the group.

She wrote me again and told me this article was on called for. I wrote her and told her all she had to do with put the subject line in as my name. I don't read every email, but never fear after she told me above a few comments to grow up and decided I better obey her as she might report me to Gather and then I could die. She has no side Kevin, and she has no life.

I thought the whole idea of joining groups was so you could notify members that you wrote an article for them to read and to find out what other members are writing. guess I was wrong again.

Oh my lord!! I would just leave that group. There are plenty of groups on Gather. Join a similar one or create another of your own. That is not right that she was so rude. I sent some notes out to members who publish the wrong stuff. But if they sent more than one. I try and send a nice note saying their content was irrelevant to the groups content. Than give a link to the group. Plus what the group is about.
I have only had to ban two people in all my groups.

Carol, I know how you feel. I posted some of my humor work made from some of my photographs (which were previously posted as well) to a group, only to have the moderator leave very rude comments on all of them, accusing me of stealing someone else's work. She didn't even bother to find out whether or not her assumption was correct - just treated me like a plagiarist and left nasty comments with words in all caps for all to see. Even when she found out the work was mine, she not only failed to admit her mistake, but called it crap because I had published it on another site (dedicated to humor) before publishing it to hers. What a snob.
You can't let people like that get to you. The closed-minded and self-important never do learn to play well with others.

Well, I do try and be careful when posting something--sometimes I'm not sure whether it's okay or not. I hope I don't make anyone made. Anyway I have had someone post 6 things in a day that were obviously not for the group. This is irritating.

It seems to me she could just remove your article and be done with it, rather than getting rude. That would make me think twice about joining any group.
